about the property

Renovated in conjunction with Under the Thatch by our good friends Mandy and Gary, this is a cute modern thatch cottage.

Charming thatched cottage with hot-tub a short walk from the beach,  and one of Wales' prettiest harbourfronts with renowned restaurants - one of the last surviving thatch cottages in Ceredigion!

Walk down by the lovely riverside walk to the beach in ten minutes or to great restaurants or a National Trust country estate. Built at the end of the eighteenth century in a picturesque style, and never extended or enlarged from its original plan, this cottage is tiny and adorable. It sits on the edge of a small town, with mature trees around, just below the road. The interior is clean, bright and modern - surprisingly modern and fairly basic, but always comfortable.

Mae Tŷ Rownd yn edrych fel rhywbeth allan o freuddwyd! To gwellt, waliau pinc ac andros o fach, sydd bron yn gwneud i chi feddwl mai'r 'pobl bach' sydd yn byw yma! Y newyddion da yw, allwch chithau byw yma hefyd...wel am wyliau pryd bynnag!

customer reviews for Tŷ Rownd

Thank you Mandy & Gary for a wonderful stay in your beautiful cottage Ty-Rownd. We had a very relaxing stay here. Martin, Bart & Grace.

- Martin B,

This is a lovely, cosy cottage with everything you might need for a holiday. The relatively small space has been thoughtfully set out so it definitely doesn't feel cramped. I just have two minor things to raise that didn't detract from a lovely holiday - 1 - can you change whatever product you use to clean the kitchen surfaces as it left them so sticky and 2 - I don't think it's a good idea to leave logs that are clearly still very wet in the starter pack for the wood burner, if you do manage to even get them to burn they will not be good for the burner and flue. I had a lovely relaxing stay here!

Lovely cottage.

We had a lovely time at Tŷ Rownd. A perfect short break to celebrate my birthday. The cottage was perfect and appreciated some treats and milk on arrival. It's a cosy space, romantic and the hot tub was a wonderful treat on our first night. Thank you so much.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this little gem of a cottage. So convenient for lovely walks and easy access to the coast.

- Sarah H,

A lovely pretty and cosy cottage - just what we wanted for a few days away to celebrate my husbands birthday. It’s in a great location, about 15 minutes to walk into Aberaeron and is lovely and quiet. The hot tub was icing on the cake!

- Sian C,

Lovely thatched property , perfect size for a relaxing get away with everything you need. Hot tub was a lovely addition for days after long walks along the coast. We would definitely book again and will be telling our friends and family about this lovely little getaway !!

- Rachael M,

Second visit and even better with addition of the hot tub. Log Fire was so cosy I thought it would cold but heats the whole cottage very quickly. Nice touches of water, milk, tea, coffee and mince pies and mulled wine highly recommend for romantic couples stay

It was lovely to return to this fairytale cottage again. I love the Christmas vibe! This time, we took advantage of the sunny weather to walk the coast path from New Quay to Aberaeron, catching the T5 bus back to New Quay to collect the car. On the other day, we visited the beach and church at Mwnt and later did some Christmas shopping at Bow Street. Our meal at the Harbourmaster was excellent (if indulgent!) We made good use of the wood burner but didn’t use the hot tub on this occasion. Thank you - I hope to come back again!

The cottage is a beautiful bijou well maintained dog friendly thatched cottage offering everything you need, including a very clean modern hot tub - glorious after a busy day walking and sampling local fare. The picnic set and portable loungers were a welcome addition. The cottage is small with limited bedroom space/height. However, the double bed is very comfy and sleep was easy! Aberaeron is within easy walking distance and lovely coastal walks start there. Walks along the disused railway to the the National Trust property of Llanerchaeron was a particular favourite for us, not least because they had the best ice cream of all we tried! Things to note: we did not find any quick dog exercise areas nearby and the noise from the traffic is noticeable at first.

Absolutely stunning little cottage in a perfect location! Very well equipped and the sleeping area was very snug and cozy. Great addition of Netflix, but there was so much to see and do in the area we didn’t watch anything! The shower / wet room was refreshing after a long days walking and the hot tub a lovely bonus. The hot tub was lovely in the dark evening with the lights lighting up the cabin. Easy walking down to the harbour in the evenings. Turn left down the little path at Jewsons to walk down the river to the town. The Hive lovely for food and dog friendly. The cottage was also dog friendly and our little one loved sitting out in the mornings watching the birds. Thanks very much we had a lovely relaxing stay!

We booked for part of the bank holiday weekend, it looked perfect online but when we arrived it was even more picturesque. Everything little detail was thought of, we could really just arrive and get settled without worrying about forgetting something. Not being overlooked and having a secure garden for our 2 small dogs was ideal, they enjoyed sitting on the doorstep in the sunshine as we sat outside and had our breakfast in the morning. It was a complete hidden gem, I wouldn't have even spotted it on the roadside if I wasn't looking. Having its own parking space outside was ideal, unloading the car was really easy and being within walking distance of the town meant i could take or leave it; which on holiday is ideal. Being able to light the log burner on the 2nd night when it got a bit chilly was a lovely feature and having the hot tub there too was a welcome addition. The little shower room is gorgeous, despite being really modern it fitted in and the shower was plenty powerful enough.  The cottage was just perfect and we are definitely looking to rebook again soon.

Absolutely lovely cottage! Good location, spotlessly kept and well-equipped. Nice and warm, and the hot tub a huge plus too. Highly recommended! Only disappointment was very poor quality of pillows, one very thin and one very lumpy each.

A very lovely short break in an immaculate and spotlessly clean thatched cottage. The owners have clearly fairly recently completed major internal works in the property with the ground floor being tiled, and the installation of a very well appointed wet room. (I am in the construction trade and can vouch for the high end finish). It was a lovely relaxing break that ended all too soon. I highly recommend this property.

- Harold P,

This cottage is absolutely beautiful! We visited on the first weekend of December and it was decorated for Christmas, such a treat! It's super clean, cosy and very close to Aberaeron, as well as other lovely towns nearby - we visited Aberaeron and Lampeter which were both around 20/30 mins away. Mandy also left Mulled Wine and Mince Pies as a special treat too. Can't wait to visit again!

We spent three nights at Cwtch Aeron - it rained a lot of the time and was overcast until our journey home, but we loved it. The cottage is cosy and was decorated lovingly with colour-coordinated, handmade Christmas decorations - there were fairy lights plugged into almost every available socket on our arrival - It looked like a dream cottage. We explored Aberaeron, still picturesque in the face of Storm Arwen, and drove out to Cenarth and Devil’s Bridge (what a smart hotel and restaurant). We used the hot tub twice, even with having to brave the short dash in our swimming costumes. Thank you so much for creating a wonderful place to unwind. We want to come back soon.

- Madelin M,

A Lovely stay at Cwtch Aeron. Such a cute cottage in a really pretty part of Wales. Well situated to visit towns such as Aberystwyth and Newquay and walking distance from the town of Aberaeron Town.

- Rosalind H,
2021

The cottage was just beautiful. Small but contained everything we needed for our stay. It was spotlessly clean and it was great to be dog friendly. We slept really well and enjoyed the walks in the area. Can’t wait to come back!

- Clare E,
2021

We loved the cottage! It was so picturesque on the outside and beautifully done up on the inside. Bucks Fizz & welsh cakes on arrival, plus kinder eggs for the kids, was a thoughtful touch. It was pretty snug with 2 adults & 2 children, and the fold out sofa bed was not the most comfortable, but fine for a short stay. We loved the hot tub, with a view out to the valley. We even spotted a kite one morning! It's about a 20 minute walk to the town (longer with kids), which has plenty of shops and cafes. The harbour and prom is lovely for a wander around. I really do recomend.

- Mary B,
2021

A most wonderful cottage. The location is perfect, a 15 minute walk out from the front at Aberaeron so close enough to the hussle and bussle but far enough out to feel like you are in the countryside. Yes, the road is a little noisy but you only really notice when a lorry drives past. This is a perfect base to explore the area, never more than 30 minutes from areas such as Aberporth, Penbryn, Llangrannog and New Quay. The actual cottage is delightful, it is compact and quaint but the main living area is perfect for 2-4 people. The upstairs bedroom area is sweet and although it has low ceilings (naturally I am 6ft 4) it was perfect. Bathroom is tastefully completed, just remember that in the summer the switch for the towel rail is low down in the cupboard next to the bathroom and this will need switching on for the timer to work. The hot tub was such a lovely touch, the perfect place to relax after huge coastal walks and the use of dressing gowns was a superb idea by the owners. I would most definitely stay here again without a shadow of doubt. I now want to try out their other two properties.

- Richard C,
2021

A picture perfect and unique cottage within easy walking distance of the centre of Aberaeron. Loved the tea, coffee, milk, Welsh cakes and Bucks Fizz that greeted us upon arrival (a very nice touch indeed from the owners). The hot tub was much appreciated after our walks out in the day, as well as the log burner for cosy nights in. Dog friendly fencing (inside and outside) provided peace of mind for our very inquisitive puppy. Many thanks from Mr and Mrs P and the little fella Dylan. Andy P - September 2020

- Andrew P,
2020

Really enjoyed our stay. The owners had left plenty of tea and coffee and a pint of milk in the fridge and a bottle of bucks fizz and some Welsh cakes. What a lovely touch. The hot tub was a godsend at the end of each day. Wonderful cottage.

- David tobin ,
2020

We thoroughly enjoyed our break at Aeron Bach. The hot tub is a lovely bonus. The cottage had everything we needed and was very warm without the need for the wood burner. The location is perfect on the outskirts of Aberaeron. Many thanks from Kate, Chris and the dogs.

- Kathryn phillips ,

A lovely place to stay. Everything you need is there in the cottage. The hot tub is great after a long walk. Short walk to Aberaeron and all its delights. Beautiful walks close by.

- Tim johnson ,

A beautiful, charming cottage, with a lovely welcome gift of Welsh Cakes and Sparkling wine. The hot tub was very welcoming especially after a long days walk. Plenty of places to eat and drink in the town of Aberaeron. Good fencing, which meant the dog couldn't escape! Would be happy to book again.

- Gareth T,
2019

We had a lovely stay in the cottage. It was cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed. A lovely walk into town where there were plenty of dog friendly places to eat and drink.

- Miss janet hamilton ,

Cosy and comfortable cottage for 2 just 10 minute walk from Aberaeron town and the coast. Lovely walks locally and we enjoyed a our stay, the only downside was close proximity of the road which can be busy at times.

- Annie S,
2019

Lovely little cottage, 10 - 15 mins walk by the river to the harbour where there is some nice pubs & restaurants. There are plenty of things to do within a short drive, we really enjoyed the walk around the gold mines about 30 mins away.

- Steven dowling ,

A very pleasant 3 night stay at this cottage. It was comfortable and cosy - just the place to return to after a day out, especially with the availability of the hot tub. Ar ol cynnau’r tan gyda’r nos nid oeddem eisiau mynd allan eto. Diolch.

We had a wonderful stay at Ty Pinc in Aberaeron. The attention to detail at the cottage was impeccable and the hot tub was brilliant. We would highly recommend this cottage, just outstanding!!

- Amanda D,

Enjoyable cosy cottage. Aberaeron is a delightful seaside location. Harbourmaster restaurant is within walking distance of Aeron Bach and is recommended.

- Martin G,
2018

Great location to get away from it all and explore Cardigan Bay. Spent three nights here 2 adults with Daughter age 8. All enjoyed the hot tub and walks with the dogs. A few national trust local to area, all dog friendly. The best were the Roman MInes!

- Paul B,
2018

We had an excellent break at Aeron Bach. Perfect for a couple of people, we stayed on a blisteringly hot weekend, but the cottage was nice and cool inside. The hot tub was permanently "on" and hot so no waiting for it to heat up, the bed was really comfortable though headroom a bit limited upstairs. The kitchen space was perfect too, cooker microwave fridge sink and dining table, etc. A big tv and comfy sofa bed couch, loads of charging points, and really easy to clean. A powerful hot shower too. Everything was perfectly planned and it was spotlessly clean as well. A mile walk into town was no problem for us. Easy access, space for parking, nice and quiet, just perfect.

- Shaun S,
2018

A visit to this property is like staying in a beautiful, cosy little doll's house. The hot tub was so relaxing and the owners made us feel really spoiled with the welcome note and provisions. UTT never fails to provide something out of the ordinary to make a well needed break even more memorable!

- Karen D,
2018

What a fantastic place Ty Pinc is. Absolutely loved our 2 night stay here and will definitely return one day. The cottage itself is beautiful, cosy and comfortable. The hot tub was a fantastic treat and we spent quite a bit of time in there chilling out. Location is also great and the welcome bottle of fizz and welsh cakes was lovely. Would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing, romantic and peaceful stay

- Nia O,

We had a lovely few days at Tŷ Pinc for our honeymoon. It was perfect and cosy and just what we needed after a crazy few weeks. The cottage itself is idyllic and so cute, we didn’t want to leave! It had everything we needed including a log burner and really made us feel at home. We’ll be back!

I would like to thank you for all your help in booking the cottage. From the moment we got there, we were over the moon with the cottage. we were left a bottle of Buck's Fizz and Welsh cakes, tea and milk was also left which was a lovely surprise. The log cabin and hot tub was amazing and we loved the area! My dog was so happy there I had to actually carry her out of the house as she wouldn't leave when we were due to come home! Thank you again and we will definitely be booking again

- Michelle L,

We have had a fantastic mini break here! Lovely cottage, picturesque area, quiet and relaxing! Loved our trip to New Quay to see the dolphins. Great little cottage, just what we needed.

What an adorable little cottage. We spent Christmas in Ty Pinc and it couldn't have been more perfect. The perfect size for the 2 of us and Alfie the Miniature Dachshund, relaxing, quiet and the hot tub on Christmas day was the icing on the cake. Thank you

- Mark E,

Wow what a beautiful little cottage - decorated and equipped to a very high standard. Very clean and comfortable and the added luxury of a hot tub. Lots to do around Aberaeron and some very nice places to eat. We had a fantastic week and many thanks for the treats from the owners - bubbly, chocs and Welshcakes - much appreciated.

- Jeremy S,
2016

A super cottage in a beautiful part of Wales. The cottage has everything you would want and is nicely decorated. The owners have thought of everything and the hot tubs is a bonus. There's so much to do in and around Aberaeron. The river and coastal walks are lovely. The harbour is ever-changing, depending on time of day and the tide. The beaches and coves nearby are stunning. We're planning to return in a different season to have a different experience.

- Sue C,

Had a wonderful 4 days at Ty Pinc.cottage - was stunning and spotlessly clean.Welsh cakes and wine were a lovely touch as was a hand written welcome card from the owners.

Diolch am wyliau bach sbesial yn y Ty Pinc. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay in your beautiful little thatched cottage. A cosy, quaint, spotless and pretty little holiday home. The hot tub was a delight and so relaxing after a busy day. The welcome Buck's Fizz and Welsh cakes were a welcome gift.Diolch yn fawr iawn, we had a fantastic time. xx

What a fantastic place to stay! Had a lovely time with my partner. Enjoyed walking in the surrounding area. Cottage was very clean with thoughtful welcome gifts and everything we could possibly need for our stay. Hot tub was luxury that would love to be repeated :)

- Nicola G,

We had a fantastic week in this lovely little thatched cottage. The cottage is cosy and warm and has all of the essentials that you need. It is a short walk into town beside the beautiful river and again a lovely walk to the National Trust House and Grounds which are well worth a visit. We arrived to find lovely fizz, chocolates, welsh cakes and a gorgeous hand written welcome card which is so thoughtful and unusual. Last but not least the hot tub is fantastic and a great way to end a days walking!!

- Lynne bruce ,
2016

We were delighted to find the cottage easily and looking exactly as we had seen in the pictures. There was a lovely welcome gift (Easter bunny and fizz) with handwritten card which was a nice touch. Immediately we used the easy to find and clear instructions about things like hot water, heating etc. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar being available was great and the kettle was on immediately before we made ourselves comfy on the sofa. We had our dog with us so the tiled floor in the living area and gated access to upstairs (white carpet!) were good to see. (We had our improvised dog barrier in the car but didn't need it). The hot tub was ready and heated and used before dinner! Town is only a 10 minute walk away. A riverside path gives access to the harbour and coast path so the dog could run free within minutes of the cottage. My husband was made very happy by the fact that the actually available TV stations had been grouped together under Favourites (beats trawling through hundreds that you can't get!)- a real bonus. And the lack of Wi Fi is possibly a positive rather than negative! Phone signal came and went but was fine just on the main road. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed. Thank you

- Janet T,
2016

Had a fantastic time at "Ty Pinc + Hot tub!", there was a lovely welcome gift awaiting for us on arrival, which made us feel right at home. The cottage was lovingly tended to, and decorated lovely. Everything was in order and charming!

- Simon M,
2015

It was a very short break, not nearly long enough to explore all the amazing places in the area, from the lovely beaches at Penbryn, Mwnt, Tresaith, Llangrannog etc., to walking the coastal path, to visiting other places of interest nearby like LLanarchaeron and Devils Bridge. The cottage was lovely, very cosy and compact, but more than adequate for myself and daughter and two grandsons Macsen 5 and Dylan 3. They loved the hot tub and we made good use of it. They loved the little pink house with a straw roof, the views over the valley and everything else. The cottage is very well-equipped, and it was lovely to have such a delicious welcome pack with something for everyone, and so convenient and thoughtful to provide tea, coffee, sugar and milk so there was no need to go and shop as soon as we got there. The cottage was very cosy and although it was late October we only had the heating on for a few minutes once or twice and no need to light the woodburner at all. Aberaeron itself, although well out of the tourist season had lots to offer, although with two little ones and a hot tub we catered at home in the evenings, there were lots of friendly and welcoming cafes eateries and shops all open for business. it is also a very distinctive and attractive town with its brightly painted houses and businesses. A big thank you to Mandy and Gary for providing such a relaxing and enjoyable break!

- Ann M,
2015

A great cottage, all you ll need for a wonderfully relaxing weekend including the hot tub in the garden shed. Easy to get to and within walking distance of the harbour and all its delicious food, local national trust property and great walking. We heard owls at night and enjoyed a spectacular rosy Aeron valley dawn

Absolutely gorgeous little cottage, beautifully furnished and decorated with a lovely homely feel. We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay, and of course the hot tub was fantastic! The little town of Aberaeron and surrounding areas are also very pretty and easily accessible from the cottage. We really didn't want to go home! I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough!

I had a wonderful time at ty pinc with my partner in January. The added cold weather and snow made it even more cosy and enjoyable in the cottage. We found the facilities to be excellent and the size perfect for two people. I would recommend this accommodation and would stay again in the future.

"Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Ty Pinc last weekend. Lovely decor making most of the chocolate box cottage. Perfect for Claire and I to unplug for the weekend which we spent pottering round Aberaeron reading books, eating the superb fish and chips from the harbour side - not to be missed! - and generally relaxing. ~ Mark and Claire
