about the property

Rural retreat for families and friends, nestled within the mountains and hills of the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales

This quirky and traditional farmhouse is located at the end of a breathtaking valley in the very heart of the Snowdonia National Park. This farmhouse is set in 690 acres of private land, surrounded by woodland, streams, waterfalls and wildlife - making this the perfect destination for long weekends, family holidays away from the hustle and bustle of every day life (though still close to the coast and market towns of Machynlleth and Dolgellau.) You really have to visit to truly appreciate the surrounding beauty and peace of this place.

The house is authentic, simple and welcoming with limewashed walls and beautiful oak beams,  it is much loved by writers, musicians and painters who return regularly for its special vintage atmosphere, and until now it has been a well kept secret!

A recent award was presented to the owners for the 'Sensitive Conservation of Old buildings' by the Campaign for the Preservation of Rural Wales.

in detail

The property is fully centrally heated

Ground Floor:

  • Kitchen: The kitchen is very simple with everything that you need a butlers sink, gas cooker /oven fridge. It has a vintage, anti-modern feel, where you can prepare meals whilst gazing at the mountains!
  • Seperate utility room: Washing machine and freezer
  • Dining room: Large dining table, seating 6 guests comfortably. Antique dresser , fireplace with log burner and door leading out into the garden (views over the mountains from the front door)

Living room

  • The heart of this room is the huge inglenook fire opening with open fire. There are two comfortable sofas, bookshelves with games, maps and books - There are fabulous views across the mountains and beyond while you are cosily snuggled by the fire!

  • Family bathroom: Large family bathroom with bath and hand mixer /shower over, loo and wash basin
  • Master bedroom:  The centrepiece of this room is the modern four poster double bed. Linen upholstered chairs by the window make a perfect place to gaze out at the stunning views.
  • Second bedroom: Double bed, with lovely quirky door to the outside and fabulous views from all of the windows.
  • Third bedroom:  This large twin room is situated at the top of the stairs - perfect for children

  • 690 acres of private land  to walk and play in! There is a garden and patio area to the front of the property.Gorgeous views of the mountains!
  • A paved seating/dining area with table and chairs.
  • Plenty of parking in the yard to the side of the house
  • Little Gelli Barn and Little Gelli house are part of a traditional rural homestead, and are therefore fairly closely positioned, however each has its own more private area, and there is a stunning and generous landscape to explore in the immediate surroundings.

We welcome dogs, however these need to be well behaved, and extreme care must be taken regarding sheep and local wildlife, as the farmers livelihoods depend on it. Please note that the garden between Little Gelli house and Little Gelli Barn are not fully separated by a fence, and both extend into the nature around.

The farmhouse is set in a peaceful and beautiful location. The house itself is absolutely lovely and the fireplace in the lounge our favourite place to sit. It was great to sit in a large bubble bath and listen to the rain outside. No TV, no broadband just peace and quiet. It was bliss thank you.

This is one of the most beautiful places we ever met. Thanks so much for letting us stay in your wonderful old Farmhouse. Despite rain we enjoyed the great site, the fireplace and the special atmosphere of the house that made us feel "at home" at once. Hopefully we have chance to come back, best wishes Lenzen family, Munich, Germany
