about the property

Rural retreat for two, nestled within the mountains and hills of the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales

Enjoy having your own mountain for a week or weekend!

This spacious barn is set in a private corner of the grounds of the main farmhouse - UTT Ffermdy Gesail.  It is bright and contemporary, within its own private garden. It overlooks a stream and is located at the end of a breathtaking valley facing the mountains of in the very heart of the Snowdonia National Park.

You have access to 690 acres of private land, surrounded by woodland, streams, waterfalls and wildlife - the perfect destination for romantic retreats, long weekends and holidays away from the hustle and bustle everyday life (though still close to the coast and market towns of Machynlleth and Dolgellau.) Try and find the lake at the top of the mountain!

You really have to visit to truly appreciate the surrounding beauty and peace of this place.

Beudy Gesail is simply furnished with lovely views overlooking the valley, with a private garden and patio for alfresco dining - it is much loved by writers, musicians and painters who return regularly for its special atmosphere.

An award was presented to the owners for the 'Sensitive Conservation of Old buildings' by the Campaign for the Preservation of Rural Wales.

We had an excellent stay here for 3 nights. It felt very remote and peaceful. The cottage is lovely, a couple of quirks like the door to the garden area not working, but it added to the quaintness!...

  • A paved seating/dining area with table and chairs, as well as a barbecue, facing the valley and mountains.
  • Plenty of designated parking in the yard to the side of the house

  • Logs supplied for the fire
  • We welcome dogs, however, these need to be well behaved, and extreme care must be taken regarding sheep and local wildlife, as the farmers' livelihoods depend on it. customer reviews for Beudy Gesail

We had an excellent stay here for 3 nights. It felt very remote and peaceful. The cottage is lovely, a couple of quirks like the door to the garden area not working, but it added to the quaintness! No one was staying in the other property so we had the whole garden to ourselves. We went for a long walk over the tops on the first day, straight from the front door up the track. Then a shorter wander exploring the valley on the second. An excellent weekend, thanks.

We had a fabulous time in the barn. The accommodation was fantastic, and we had our own mountain to explore!

Little Gelli Barn is a beautiful spot and the barn feels light and contemporary. It is very remote and the nearest mobile phone signal is at least a couple of miles drive away. We really felt that we had got away from everything and, in spite of fairly constant rainfall (in July!) we absolutely loved evenings in reading our books and listening to classical music (suggest you take your own CDs with you as the selection is very limited). There is no wifi or television which we loved but may not suit all. Dogellau is a lovely little town with food shops, a lovely wine bar and coffee shop and we went to Barmouth too which is beautiful. Lots of walks - our labrador absolutely loved it and I liked having a dog there owing to the remoteness of the property, it was rather spooky late one night when a lost walker hammered on the window.
