about the property

Hafod Dyfi enjoys the perfect location for a beach and mountain break, located above the Dyfi valley between Aberdyfi and Machynlleth.

Located high above the Dyfi valley between Aberdyfi and Machynlleth (about a 10-minute drive to either), Hafod Dyfi enjoys the perfect location for a beach and mountain break. Renovated from a ruin by George & Tomos architects (famous for their sustainable work), this hillside barn enjoys far-reaching views of Snowdonia.

Inside is simple but done with quality and integrity, reflected in works by Welsh designers Cefyn Burgess, Adra, and Melin Tregwynt.  Stay here to enjoy the peace of Eryri/Snowdonia, or the Wales Coast Path passes the gate.

customer reviews for Hafod Dyfi

Many thanks Siân for a lovely stay. Thanks for being on hand when we couldn’t light the fire! The house is in a wonderful location, unbelievably peaceful, no passing traffic, being at the end of a very minor lane. And we loved the fact that we could walk up into the hills from the door. The place was beautifully kept, clean and practical, very comfy beds.

Lovely cottage with great views! Roaring fire and good size for 4 people. Children loved watching the lambs outside.

Hafod Dyfi is an excellent place to stay for a quiet time. With easy access to Machynlleth and Aberdyfi. The cottage is well equipped and stylishly furnished. If you like the outdoors then it ticks a lot of boxes with the Wales Coastal path passing at the back of the property. We walked the 5 miles into Aberdyfi from this path with great views of the estuary. We had a great time Jed Kai & Ian

We had a fantastic stay, such a beautiful and well-appointed cottage, in a stunning location. And plenty to do all around – we enjoyed the beach, the coast train, and the Ospreys! Sian was a fantastic host, responded really quickly to our queries and always really helpful. Will definitely be back! The Desais, Easter ‘22

We had a fantastic time at Hafod Dyfi! The cottage was wonderful - well equipped and really comfortable with a fantastic open plan living area and wood burner. We loved the location, nestled amongst the rolling hills and with lots of sheep as our neighbours! The cottage is in a perfect spot to discover the nearby beaches and pretty villages, as well as walking (and wild swimming!) in Snowdonia. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be booking again!

What a beautiful cottage Hafod Dyfi is - you could see it from the drive up to the gate and we were not disappointed. It certainly had that wow factor. The cottage had everything you would want for a self catering holiday and more ….including a well stocked store room with a rice cooker (!), microwave, and washing machine. Sian was on hand with any queries we had, including where the fuse box was. The patio area was great for a spot of meditation or exercise. The log burner was a brilliant feature. The smart TV was well used as was all the cooking facilities. We will definitely be returning in future. We used this as a base to explore Machynlleth and the wonderful beaches at Aberdyfi. Fully recommend the Centre for Alternative Technology as we are carbon literate and it was great to see how far ahead Machynlleth was (1973!!). Unsurprisingly we took all the litter that could be better recycled at home with us!

Myself, wife and little toddler had a fantastic stay here! There was plenty of things to see close by and the weather was very kind. Whether it was a local walk from the house up to Llyn Barfog, a short drive to the beach, or an hour's drive to one of the bigger lakes for some water activities such as SUP ( first time for me and lovely), there was plenty to do in some very gorgeous surroundings. The place itself was very tranquil and well equipped. There was a SMART TV if you wanted to have a lazy evening or keep the little one entertained, and a nice log burner which we didn't need. The only thing missing was a bb but with sunny evenings, gazing over at the views with no sound except a few sheep, somehow we managed to get by. Highly recommended!

A lovely place. Very quiet and peaceful with beautiful views. Building was nice and clean and well equipped, the garden area was nice and contained for kids to run around. Would definitely go there again
