Ffynnon-Oer was where Under the Thatch began, and today, after a 2010 refurbishment it combines a remarkable historic interior with modern furnishings and facilities. Extra photos here. It sits right on a country road in a small hamlet just off the main route between Lampeter and the sea at Aberaeron and enjoys open country views. The gardens have recently been re-planted by renowned gardener Richard Webb, with a large collection of snowdrops for spring and roses for summer. UPSTAIRS:

• Croglofft 1 - double bed. restricted headroom in parts.
• Croglofft 2 - single bed, desk & chair. restricted headroom in parts, accessed by short, fixed ladder.

OUTSIDE:

• Good sized and much-loved rear garden with lovely open country views.
  Parking for one car, two at a squeeze.

This location is relatively accessible via public transport. You may need a taxi or to ask for a lift at the start and end of your holiday if you have heavy cases, but otherwise there are local public transport services available within walking distance. You can get information on UK transport services from Transport Direct using a destination postcode of SA48 7SA.

If travelling by public transport take train to Carmarthen or Aberystwyth and then the Traws Cambria (X40) bus which passes the cottage.
