Ffynnon-Oer was where Under the Thatch began, and today, after a 2010 refurbishment it combines a remarkable historic interior with modern furnishings and facilities. Extra photos here. It sits right on a country road in a small hamlet just off the main route between Lampeter and the sea at Aberaeron and enjoys open country views. The gardens have recently been re-planted by renowned gardener Richard Webb, with a large collection of snowdrops for spring and roses for summer. Click here for independent guest reviews or here to see the local coast captured in an amateur video. Many guests call this the perfect 'hobbit house'. Ffynnon-Oer Uchaf: bwthyn traddodiadol wrth ochr yr heol, wedi ei leoli yn Nyffryn Aeron (y dyffryn sy'n rhedeg o Lambed hyd y mor yn Aberaeron). Mae'r bwthyn yma yn un o'r rhai prin sydd wedi goroesi o'r bythynod 'croglofft' yng Ngorllewin Cymru. Oherwydd ei bwsigrwydd pensaerniol, mae e'n adeilad gofretredig, ac mae iddo du mewn unigryw, gwreiddiol, sydd wedi ei bortreadu ar sawl raglen teledu ac mewn ambell lyfr. Dywedir pobl sydd wedi aros yn ein unedau arall mae hwn sydd well ganddynt, ac mae nifer o'n gwestau yn dod nol dro ar ol tro. Lleolir y bwthyn mewn pentrefan bach gwledig (tua 10 ty) yn Nyffryn Aeron rhwng tref-farchnad Llanbed a harbwr Aberaeron. Central heating throughout and Satellite Broadband (cable, not wireless).

"This must be the prettiest cottage in Wales. It is so nice to stay somewhere so romantic and cosy & interesting. I recommend breakfast in the garden and taking steaming hot baths in the slate bathroom" ~ Caroline & Luke "One of the most beautiful weekend retreats we have ever had the privilege of staying in...we were totally taken back - what a beautiful place to stay - we felt right at home from the moment we walked in. Getting away from the hustle and bustle is enough, but knowing that you are staying in such an amazing piece of history is beyond words - thank you Under the Thatch, we'll be back!" ~ Lisa & John from Manchester "Don't bother going to New Zealand, we found our very own Hobbit House here. This is better than Bag End and we can't wait to come back" ~ The Holden Family, Bristol. Property not suitable for toddlers. Ladder access to Croglofft 2 and low headroom in general upstairs. |
