A cosy, romantic cottage with country views, ideal for
couples - 9 miles inland from the famous West Wales coast
in the Aeron valley.
Ffynnon-Oer Isaf (pronounced "Funon Oyr Eesav",
meaning Lower Cool Spring) is ideal for couples, but has
a sofabed if more than 2 in party. Travel cot also available.
Built sometime before 1750, it enjoys a breathtaking original
eighteenth century interior, the main room soaring up to
the original oak roof structure 5m above.
This is the quintessential traditional 'croglofft' cottage
where the bed is up steep steps on a mezzanine gallery overlooking
the main living space. This gives a sense of space, as does
the open country views from the windows and French doors.
There is a sofabed in the lounge so the cottage can sleep
up to 4 if required, though we have more suitable cottages
for 4 adults.
The cottage is located in a small rural hamlet of about
ten houses, in the Aeron valley between Lampeter
(with its ancient University) and the quaint harbour
of Aberaeron.

to see a short amateur video of the dolphins off the nearby
coast - boat trips run several times a day in summer (around
£6>7 per person).
Great uninterrupted views to the rear, where the French
doors have been fitted into what was the cowshed entrance.
The cottage doesn't have broadband but only a 12 minute drive to the Harbourmaster where you can enjoy free wireless Broadband over a coffee/ drink or award-winning seafood.
12 >15 minutes drive (9 miles) to the beach and harbour at
Aberaeron (great for seafood meals) or just relax in the
garden and enjoy the fine views.
Local pub (serves food) in walking distance (half mile),
local shop 1.5 miles or 10 minute drive (4.5 miles) to Lampeter
where there is a delicatessen, specialist wine merchants,
great Indian restaurant, takeaways as well as a good choice
of pubs.

snaps from a guest who stayed here or an album of photos taken by honeymoon guests here.
Oil-fired central heating is provided throughout and there
is a traditional cast-iron wood-burning stove for cosy nights
in.
Outside you will find your patio and garden with uninterrupted
rural views. Often lambs or calves the other side of the
fence to amuse you.
Well-behaved pets are allowed at this cottage, though please
be aware the rear garden is not enclosed, and dogs that
are so minded could escape via the parking area and down
the drive onto the road.
Ffynnon Oer Isaf is semi-detached to Ffynnon
Oer Uchaf (they were built in the 1700s as pair of semi-detached
cottages), and their proximity means that they can be booked
together for a group of up to 10 people. Both have all seperate
and private facilities, entrances, parking etc.
Restricted headroom in parts upstairs, and steep stairs
mean the croglofft will not be suitable for toddlers or
the infirm (NB there is a sofabed downstairs in lounge).
If travelling by public transport take train to Carmarthen
or Aberystwyth and then the Traws Cambria (X40) bus which passes
the cottage.
You can arrange a delivery of organic produce from this local company ready for your arrival.
You can arrange a Welsh food hamper to be ready for your arrival through this local company.

It really is magic.
This cottage has:
Cegin Fawr:Lounge with traditional wood-burning stove,
TV (DVD & VHS), CD, French doors to garden. There is
a sofabed but we do not recommend this cottage for 4 adults.
Lovely views out across the valley.
Bathroom: with roll-top Edwardian bath,
rustic panelled walls etc.Shower socket.
Kitchen: Compact but adequate with Belfast sink, full-size
oven & hob, fridge, microwave, toaster etc.
Croglofft: A traditional mezzanine bedroom
with antique oak double bed, low headroom in part. The croglofft
wouldn't be suitable for a toddler (NB sofabed downstairs).
The bed was made around 1780 and is a 'three quarter' -
so 6" narrower than a modern standard double.
We have a small travel-cot for babies that you can borrow
on request (no charge, but bring your own cot bedding).
Garden: Garden and lawn with uninterrupted
countryside views. Patio furniture.
Parking for two cars. Lambs often the other side of the
garden fence in Spring, calves in Summer.
