Zenobia is a late Georgian townhouse overlooking Cardigan Bay at New Quay, West Wales. It has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard by a professional interior designer, and will appeal to those who like a bit of luxury.
Zenobia was a Syrian queen who lived in the 3rd Century. She lent her name to a local boat, and the boat lent its name to this charming seaside home.
After a life trading out from the quay, this c1830 house provided a comfortable retirement for a sea captain and his wife, and it was named in honour of the floating queen.
Renovated by an interior designer from Cardiff, Zenobia has been refurbished
with stylish décor and furnishings of excellent quality. The renovation has been professionally managed and the house is immaculately
kept. Click here for larger interior images.
Zenobia is a terraced property on Marine Terrace, a quiet dead-end road that looks directly out to sea. It is the middle of the three famous New Quay terraces that inspired Dylan Thomas's 'Under Milk Wood'. The coastal footpath starts at the end of the road.
The beauty of this house is its view - the major reception rooms and three of the four bedrooms have excellent views out over the bay. The fourth bedroom has french doors onto the rear patio garden terrace. Click here for an aerial photo centred on the house.
This is our best property for seeing the local colony of bottle-nosed dolphins - you can watch them from your window if they are in the bay, or boat trips are available.
Zenobia doesn't have Broadband but it is only a three minute walk from good quality pubs that provide free Wi-Fi access. An iPod docking station provided.
This property can sleep 8, though we consider it ideal for no more than 6 adults.
Children of all ages are welcome but note that there are very steep steps on the rear patio terrace that may be a potential danger.
You can arrange a Welsh food hamper to be ready for your arrival through this local company.
You may also be able to arrange extra cleaning during your stay - contact the housekeeper direct for this.

New Quay is a small coastal town and harbour on the West Wales coast. See photos of the town here.
The town has two beaches (Zenobia is above Dolau, the smaller and quieter beach). There is also a harbour from where you can take boat trips to see dolphins and seals in good weather. Fishing trips also leave from the harbour.
Click HERE to see some video footage taken from the coastline near Zenobia - 50 dolphins at one time!
A two to three minute walk will take you into town where there is a choice of pubs, shops, and of course great fish and chips. There is a Thai restaurant and an Indian restaurant.
The best activity is walking the coastal footpath - literally from your door. Bring stout shoes and (if you have them) binoculars to watch the marine life.
Once you have explored New Quay and the coastline North and South, there are plenty of other small coastal villages and towns to explore.
This is the county
website which has loads of info about where to go, best
local organic foods, best days out etc.
A 15 minute drive North up the coast takes you to the lovely
harbour town of Aberaeron
-one of the prettiest seaside towns in Wales.
There you can walk down by the lovely riverside walk to
the beach or eat out on the famous local seafood (some of
the world's best lobsters!) in harbourside restaurants.
While you are there explore the fantastic National Trust
Llanerchaeron
estate where you can explore the mansion, walk the guided
walks around parkland, or just enjoy a traditional afternoon
tea by the river.
Or drive inland to the UK's smallest University town -
Lampeter
- the oldest University in England/Wales after Oxford
and Cambridge. Stop off at Conti's
Italian cafe for home-made Italian ice-cream, or to
wander through the University
cloisters.
