Caban Aderyn

about the property

Cardigan Bay holiday cabin with huge open country views and about 12 minutes from the fine sandy Blue Flag beaches of Llangrannog and Penbryn – a popular Ceredigion holiday cottage for families and those who enjoy being near the best beaches.

Caban Aderyn (meaning Bird Cabin in Welsh) occupies a truly stunning spot on a smallholding set in beautiful and peaceful countryside, an idyllic haven for the outdoor enthusiast offering superb scenery. Walking, pony treking, fishing and golfing are all within easy reach.

This is a perfect base for bird watching, don't forget your binoculars to watch the Red Kites fly overhead and the many varieties of birds feeding at the bird table. Caban Aderyn is less than three miles from the award winning beaches at Penbryn and only 3.5 miles from Llangrannog, both beaches have access to the The Ceredigion Coastal path - with all of its incredible flora and fauna and with the opportunity to spot dolphin and seals from the local beaches, which are just five minutes' walk away. Being so close to nature and the wildlife you cannot help but feel a genuine sense of peace and relaxation here within your own very special paradise. Check out the other photos on Flickr

We loved Caban Aderyn - it was such a peaceful escape. The woodburner is really warm and cosy and we watched the birds in the field on the feeders on the porch for hours, especially the resident robin...

customer reviews for Caban Aderyn

We loved Caban Aderyn - it was such a peaceful escape. The woodburner is really warm and cosy and we watched the birds in the field on the feeders on the porch for hours, especially the resident robin and the swirling kites. Our hosts were very kind in leaving firewood every day and some days, the cabin was so cosy that we stayed there most of the day rather than venture out. Even with the howling of storm Eleanor outside, everything within was cosy. Recommended beaches nearby are Penbryn (also the gorgeous Plwmp Tart cafe nearby) and Llangrannog (the Beach Hut is lovely for eating) and Mwnt. We also walked from Borth to Ynys Las at low tide, marvelling at the exposed prehistoric forest stumps in the sand. Llanyrchaeron is gorgeous too. We'll definitely be back - the cabin was lacking in nothing. Thanks for a lovely stay.

What a Gem - stunning views and well situated to get to lots of places in short time - had a lovely time - only things that could improve would perhaps be a heated towel rail in bathroom (or extra towel per person left as hard to get dry between showers?) and an oven glove would be handy rather than trying to use tea towel folded over. Other than these things it was wonderful to sit and cloud gaze through the huge windows at the hills on a very comfy sofa - well done UTT and Hilary and Basil for a truely fantastic cottage - hope to be back again

We had such a great time in this cabin. It feels so secluded and relaxing with beautiful views, and yet is within 10 minutes of many stunning beaches and days out. We are a family with two young children and we fell in love with the area...we never had to travel more than 30 minutes to find new and awesome things to do. The cabin was well equipped and although cool in the evenings, had lovely cosy features like a log burner, constant hot water, beautiful blankets and thick duvets. Hilary, the owner, was friendly and accessible but not intrusive. Highly recommend the cabin and the area.

A fairly small and simple cabin, but with all you need for a few days break, located close to the coast overlooking lovely countryside.

This cabin was perfect for getting away from the 'rat race'. The views were lovely, the fresh country air was fab and the visits from the cows, dog and cat were the icing on the cake. Not far at all (in the car) from the beach and a magnificent coastal walk, this place was just what three busy girls needed x thank you Hilary

Wonderful 2 weeks in Caban Aderyn, exceedingly lucky with the weather (13 days of sun!), but regardless this was one of the best holidays we've ever had. The location is peaceful and beautiful, with far-reaching views over the countryside, the cabin itself comfy and well equipped. The wall-wall windows / doors in the kitchen/living area are perfect. Lots to explore close by, especially the coast path / beaches, but also a great place to just hang out and relax.

Great little place if you have a dog. All enclosed with a wonderful view of the valley .Some good quiet roads for some cycling particularly down towards the woollen mill. 20 minutes from New Quay for some dolphin watching. The cabin is very comfortable and well laid out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was one of the most peaceful places we've stayed in and had one of the most beautiful views. The cabin has been cleverly located so that you really feel you're completely alone although the farm is just next door. Basil and Hilary were very helpful and flexible and had equipped the cabin really well. It was lovely to be able to bring our border terrier too. We've stayed in this area many times and absolutely love the coast line. The cabin was close enough to the beaches that it felt like a quick hop in the car. Penbryn is our favourite. We would highly recommend the cabin which was cosy and welcoming. The birdlife was a particular highlight. Thank you!

Caban Aderyn is a glorious cabin with the most wonderful views everything was just right we all enjoyed our stay so much. The cabin was so comfortable and the woodburner really heated the whole place I wish we could have stayed for longer. Hilary had put a folder together showing all the places to visit and the dogs had the best time racing along the beach and up and down the field next to the cabin. I can't recommend Caban Adreyn highly enough.

Fantastic setting with an abundance of wildlife. Cabin very well equipped and comfortable. Great location for exploring the beaches of Llangrannog and Penbryn. Whilst you have a sense of being in the middle of no-where, there is a Farm Shop and general store within a 10 minute drive. Lovely holiday!

Very sad to leave. This cabin is absolutely perfect. Even on a rainy day the view is amazing. As a family of 5 we needed a good base to explore from as well as a comfortable place to stay and relax in. There was more than enough room for us all, the children loved the garden and seeing the different animals around the farm and the squirrels and birds that visited the bird feeders right outside the double doors. The owners are friendly and helpful and left us some lovely biacuits when we first arrived. I hope we come back to visit again, I would recommend this cabin to anyone. You will love it!!

We had a fabulous stay at Caban Aderyn. It is set in a truly wonderful location with fantastic views accross the valley. We fell in love with the local beaches particularly Tresaith which our 7ry old loved for its waterfall and rock pools. The interior of the cabin was exactly as shown on the pictures with some nice little touches such as cute hot water bottles for each guest (not that we needed them with the weather being in the 20's). A bag of fresh coffee and other essentials (teabags, oil, etc) were also a welcome find. Outside the well fenced garden was great for our dog and daughter to play in. We would certainly recommend this as a great place to get away from it all.

Caban Aderyn was everything we expected and more. Our 22 month loved seeing the wild rabbits on a morning and night, and all the birds flying up to all the feeders. Everything was there to make our stay a home away from home retreat. If you like nature, the large windows look out into the beautiful countryside. Highly recommend this property.

Rydym wedi cael tridiau hyfryd yng Nghaban Aderyn, a chael cyfle i fwynhau traethau Ceredigion ar gyfnod tawel o'r flwyddyn! Er nad yw'r caban wedi ei wresogi'n ganolog, mae'r blwch tan yn bwerus iawn ac yn gwresogi'r caban i gyd mewn dim o amser! Roedd digon o le yn y caban i ni gyd a'r gegin yn cynnwys yr holl offer y gallem fod ei angen. Fyddwch chi ddim angen y teledu - mae'r olygfa allan o'r ffenestr yn arbennig, a llwyth o adar i'w gweld! Mae Hillary, perchennog y Caban yn gyfeillgar ac ar gael i helpu petai problem yn codi. Diolch! We've had a very relaxing 3 day stay at Caban Aderyn and had the opportunity to explore Ceredigion's stunning and wild coastline at a quieter time of year! Although there's no central heating in the cabin, we found that the wood burner provides more than ample heating. There was plenty of space in the cabin for the three of us and large dog, and the kitchen was well equipped. Hillary, the owner of the cabin, os very friendly and around to help should any problems occur. You won't need the TV - the view from the front windows is incredible and you'll be visited by lots of wildlife! Enjoy!

We stayed over New Year and had a lovely time. The cabin was just what we needed, it was well equipped and the log burner made the whole place really cosy. The icing on the cake was sitting eating breakfast whilst countless birds visited the feeders just outside the window. All in all a lovely place to stay.

We had a most enjoyable stay with probably the best weather of the year. The location is most delightful, and so were the owners. The cabin is well appointed, but regretfully we didn't need to use the wood-burner as the weather was exceptional and the cabin is very cosy. The dogs loved talking to the cows & calves who came right up to the fence. We will definitely try to come back here!

Lovely, comfortable cottage with a great countryside view. Nice to be so near some of the best beaches in Wales (two sightings of dolphins!), as well as busy towns of Cardigan and Aberaeron. The nearby farm shop is brilliant, don't bother taking lots of food with you as you can get everything you need there!

We had a lovely stay at Caban Aderyn from 21.8.15 to the 28.8.15, despite the very mixed weather, we had an enjoyable break as a family of 5 with ponies & dogs ! The cabin was very cosy, especially on the chillier evenings with the log burner ! We had some lovely days at the local beaches, had a delicious Mexican takeaway from the farm shop up the road, hacked out to the derilict mansion ( thanks Hilary ) & rode on poppitt sands, children, dogs & ponies all enjoyed ! Hilary & Basil really lovely, welcoming & friendly x

thoroughly enjoyed our stay - thank you. Caban Aderyn is exactly as described - comfy, well equipped, sited on farmland with amazing views. Enjoyed watching the avian acrobatics - small birds enjoying breakfast & a kite riding the thermals. Spoilt for choice of local beaches - Llangrannog, Newport & Newquay (which included an impromtu dolphin display!). Have bookmarked for our next visit to West Wales

We had a fabulous weekend, the cabin was very comfortable and very cosy with a fantastic view over the countryside, you could believe you were miles out in the country with just ourselves. Our hosts were great and made us feel very welcome and were very friendly and helpful.
