about the property

This 1973 retro cabin makes a fun holiday! Designed along Scandinavian principles, this cabin enjoys a shared swimming pool in the summer and wifi access. Close to the famous waterfalls and the Pembrokeshire coast

Our cabins were named No 1 in The Guardian travel section's list of Top 5 UK Log Cabins! Caban Cariad (The Loveshack) is a groovy woodland cabin in the heart of the beautiful West Wales countryside at Cenarth. Architect designed in 1973, and renovated with retro and designer furnishings, the cabin is a simple (basic even) but fun place to stay. It is nestled in the trees at Penlan woodland holiday village in Cenarth, a quiet, quality holiday village of mostly privately-owned cabins carefully arranged into small 'cul de sacs' in the woodland. Free use of communal pool in the summer! Walk by nearby waterfalls or short drive to a string of beautiful beaches. in detail

The cabin is entirely lined in pine, has portable heater and a seperate bathroom heater, is partly-double glazed. Free low bandwidth Wi-Fi which is run by the site  - usually available but cannot be guaranteed.

  • Decking/Patio: Patio set
  • Lounge: Huge comfy sofa, a DVD TV. Dining table, and a few designer goodies like Eero Aarnio ball chair, Roy Lichtenstein 'cartoon' paintings, Henry Massonnet stools, Marimekko fabrics, Philippe Starck 'Eros' dining chairs etc. Selection of retro books, DVDS and games. Groovy!
  • Kitchen: The compact galley kitchen is small but adequate for holiday use and there are plenty of options to eat out locally if you wish.
  • All appliances (fridge (with small ice compartment), cooker, microwave etc) are full size. A few nice retro touches like groovy tableware. Pretend you're back in the 1970s when you pass plates of prawn cocktail through the pine serving hatch. Laundry facilities available on site as well as iron etc. Steam iron in cabin.
  • Master Bedroom: Small but so cosy! Pine clad walls and a cosy double bed you won't want to get out of. All bedlinen in the cabin is 100% cotton.
  • Second bedroom: Kids will love the bunks and amusing peephole windows out into the woods. Sleeps 2 in (full size, safety-standard) bunk beds  . Not large as rooms go (probably therefore better suited to kids than adults), but kids seem to get excited by it! Note there is no room for a travel cot in the bedroom, but you would fit a small moses basket in.
  • Toilet & Shower Room: Small room that does exactly what it says on the tin, window out to the trees, and ceiling heater.

customer reviews for Caban Cariad

This was great. It was our first holiday with our 5 month old son. The cabin was warm and big enough for the 3 of us. We took our own travel cot and set that up in the lounge at night. The village was quiet with a nice pool. Being able to use the laundry was also really important. The kitchen in the cabin was equipped for us to cook simple meals in the evening and the microwave was big enough to fit our steriliser. The village of Cenarth is lovely too. It is a great base to explore the coast with some excellent beaches and walks. We would definitely book this cabin again when he is older and can enjoy the sandy beaches and paddling in the sea.

The cabin was comfortable and stylish (and particularly loved by our 10 year old daughter), it had everything we needed, and we really liked the holiday park - lots of trees, the pool and close to the lovely village of Cenarth with its falls and to beautiful countryside and beaches. Everything was very dog friendly too, and Jane the owner of the cabin was very helpful providing us with lots of very useful info before our trip so that we were able to make the most of our short break and find things to do things that suited us, our daughter and our dog. We have already recommended the cabin and the holiday park to friends and hope to return ourselves for a longer visit.
