  • Beautiful cottage, wonderful hosts, thoroughly relaxing! Jennifer C, 28 November 2016
  • We had a lovely relaxing stay at this cottage, the hot tub was a great bonus. The owner is lovely and very helpful. Thanks for our cakes and wine :) Will use UTT again. Aimee L, 14 November 2016
  • We had such a wonderful stay at the cottage, the owner has thought of everything. It's in a great location, close to the waterfalls and lots of walking routes from outside the door. It was our first holiday with our 1 year old and she loved it, having a cot and highchair available was really helpful and the cottage was great for her, she even made friends with the sheep! Laura L, 22 October 2016
  • What an amazing and beautiful little cottage, we only stayed for two nights but it was so relaxing and peaceful. The owners couldn't do enough for us they were so friendly and made our stay even more special. It wont be the last time we visit Hen Glyn, we would highly recommend it to anyone. Catherine J, 17 October 2016
  • We had a fabulous honeymoon at Hen Glyn. Jenny and David were very helpful and welcoming. We explored the local area and found some great waterfalls and enjoyed a drive over the black mountain. We visited all of the local towns and came back exhausted! We loved the hot tub after a day out walking around and the beds were comfortable and the area peaceful. Jenny left us some lovely touches, fresh flowers, eggs, butter, milk, tea and coffee. These little touches provided and make it feel like it's a home from home. The heating is not on a timer so you can turn it on and off as you please, unlike other cottages we've stayed in where we froze! Lots of extra blankets and throws around make it lovely and cozy. We didn't make use of the local butcher's delivery but would of if stayed longer and Jenny said she would organise it for your arrival. It really is one of the best UTT places we've stayed in (we're onto our 5th now) and we cannot recommend the cottage and the hosts enough. Amy M, 9 October 2016
  • We had a blissful time at Hen Glynn The lovely owners had put every effort into making this a very special and relaxing place to stay. The cottage was cosy and beautiful. We can highly recommend it as a fabulous place to rest and recouperate . If you are keen walkers, it's also perfect, as you can walk from the cottage onto the mountains without the need of a car. You can get the best of both worlds. Samantha godden , 3 October 2016
  • The cottage was beautiful - some lovely touches by the owner from leaving us goodies and fresh flowers to the bundles of large towels and the great hot tub. We had a lovely relaxing break in stunning scenery and would love to return. Susan H, 16 August 2016
  • This is a lovely cottage in a wonderful location and the combination of wood-burner indoors and hot-tub outdoors make it perfect whatever the weather is doing! The owners are very welcoming and helpful. Mrs nola a cokely , 5 July 2016
  • We have just returned home after a two night stay at Hen Glyn. There is everything you need there for a perfect stay including a fantastic hot tub. There is also an outside private area where you can enjoy a glass of wine taking in all the beautiful scenery. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Sue and Emma Susan S, 9 June 2016
  • Fantastic cottage. Great location with walks from the door and then the hot tub to relax in when you get back. The cottage is on a working farm and the sheep and lambs walk right past the window, can't wait to go back. John R, 24 April 2016
  • Diolch am benwythnos hyfryd yn Hen Glyn. Croeso twymgalon tu hwnt! A very relaxing weekend with good food, plenty of games, birdsong and a hot tub that was fun in the sun, wind and hail! Climbed Garreg Lwyd nearby and will have to return to explore Garreg Las. The owners could not have been kinder, diolch, teulu Tŷ Crwn. Ceril R, 11 April 2016
  • Wonderful in every way, warm and cosy, perfect for a winter's break. The caves weren't open this time of year, but did plenty of other things, including just relaxing by the fire and in the hot tub. Did the black mountain route on the way home, via Llanthony Priory - sharp drop at top and icy - bit scary! We'd love to stay at Hen Glyn again. Lovely hosts. Emily connolly , 14 January 2016
  • This cottage is beautiful, it's a home away from home, the owners have thought of everything and the hot tub is amazing at night under the stars! I highly recommend staying here if you are wanting to explore the Brecon Beacons. Will be returning here again in the summer! Suzie M, 2 January 2016
  • What a wonderful little cottage away from the hustle and bustle, the perfect place to unwind. There are so many homely extras from the lovely owners, a home from home experience. The hot tub and the log fire are the icing on the cake! We hope to go back in the spring. Sian W, 7 December 2015
  • Hen Glyn was a lovely cottage and very cosy. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and watching the local wildlife. It was a great base to explore the brecon beacon landscape which was stunning. Would love to come back with the children. Damian C, 30 November 2015
  • We stayed for 2 nights in February and loved the fabulous warm & cosy cottage in such a beautiful setting. We all enjoyed the hot tub - especially in the cold evenings & of course great to go back inside to the warm fire. Most comfortable & well equipped cottage we've ever stayed in. Many thanks to the very friendly & helpful owners. Anna P, 12 November 2015
  • We had a wonderful stay here! The cottage and location were stunning and the owners were very welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend! Claire F, 6 November 2015
  • Hen Glyn, what a wonderfully, relaxing break we have had here. Beautiful, well equipped cottage in a stunning location and lovely, welcoming hosts have made this a holiday to remember. The hot tub to relax in at the end of the day was the icing on the cake - hottubalicious! We would whole heartedly recommend. Joanne H, 31 October 2015
  • A peaceful weekend in a beautiful cottage with lovely hosts. The hot tub was an amazing place to view the super blood red moon, and I enjoyed the morning visits from a Nuthatch tapping on the sitting room window. Thank you UTT for another memorable holiday. Sarah S, 3 October 2015
  • A cottage and what a cottage! Listed, beautifully furnished and so comfortable. Everything you need provided for. A very warm welcome from Jennifer and David so helpful thanks to them we had a great breakfast the following morning (the shops were closed when we arrived). The cottage was warm and peaceful and of course THE great thing is the hot tub. Like a guest said stargazing in the hot tub is just wonderful and of course when you run back to the warm cottage you can't ask for more. We really enjoyed the walk to the waterfalls, Brecon and its lovely canal. Llanthony Priory ruins are stunning. In fact we enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked another holiday there and really look forward to it! Marie-laure S, Canappeville (France), 13 August 2015
  • An absolutely charming 16th Century farmhouses! Well furnished and stocked with crockery, cutlery, etc. Lovely hot tub, with sheep and lambs baa-ing at us, and great view of the Brecons. We wanted for nothing, and spent lots of time just lounging about reading and soaking in the tub. Jennifer gave us a very warm welcome. We look forward to returning! David K, 15 June 2015
  • We really enjoyed our two nights at Hen Glyn and hope to come back. The cottage had EVERYTHING we needed (except an internet connection). It was peaceful, the sounds of sheeps and cows were not at all bothersome (they seemed to go to sleep before we did), with glorious views of Brecon Beacons. Kate H, Toronto (Canada), 2 June 2015
  • An idyllic few days away to walk, relax and read Dickens (Our Mutual Friend) On the last day, we woke to sun on snow - so beautiful - but not so good for the sheep! Sue thomas , 28 May 2015
  • Absolutely loved staying at Hen Glyn! Super cosy place to stay and so welcoming. LOVED the hot tub and the wood burner, perfect little extras for a relaxing stay. Samantha J, 28 May 2015
  • "Thank you for such a warm welcome! The cottage is beautifully finished - and we really enjoyed the hot tub - staring up at the starry skies after a hard day walking was quite magical - so thanks Jennifer, David and your children for your warmth & kindness particulary during your busiest time of the year on the farm!" ~ Vicki, Kevin & dog from Leicestershire 1 July 2014
  • "We arrived as strangers & left feeling like we were leaving old friends behind. Jennifer and David (in the farmhouse next door) gave us such a warm welcome...nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was fabulous and the hot tub was the icing on the cake! Not to mention the wonderful countryside. We thank you for making our weekend so wonderful!" 1 July 2014
  • "Perfect! Thank you so much! The hot tub was just what we needed after a three hour hour walk on the mountain - what an adventure! Excellent." ~ Tracy, Marc & family from Sutton Colfield 1 July 2014

Hen Glyn is a Grade II listed cottage (thatch under tin) in the Brecon Beacons National Park, with direct access to the Black Mountain where there is a 'right to roam' freely. See inside this Brecon Beacons Cottage. This is one of our best cottages for hill-walking, and has an outdoor heated hot-tub so you can enjoy the mountain views and relax with your partner/friends. It sits next to the modern farmhouse next door where the owner lives, both buildings in a parallel line and facing same way, not each other. You'll find excellent way-marked walks start right at the front door or the farm has 230 acres of private land. All work has been undertaken using traditional conservation and eco-friendly materials (natural paints, limewashes etc). Read this five star review here.

Free wi-fi

The ground floor has a large open-plan lounge diner, with a kitchen off and a small shower-room/toilet.

Up (steep) stairs there are two bedrooms (one double, one twin) separated by a landing area with its own sofa and TV/DVD.

A wood-burning stove heats the lounge, and there is full central heating throughout.

The cottage feels surprisingly light, fresh and contemporary inside, whilst respecting the original C18 oak beams, crucks, panelling and (steep) stairs.

There is a TV (Sky FreeSat channels) in the lounge, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and all the other usual equipment.

Outside there is a hot tub to the rear (to take advantage of the mountain views) - available all year round.

To the front there is a small garden area with patio dining set etc.
