Little Barn

about the property

Sweet waterfront tin holiday cottage for two in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, otters regularly seen from the front door. One of the smallest Welsh cottages yet adored by all who stay there!

'Striking just the right balance between rustic and romantic, Little Barn near Newport is a former artist's studio that has been converted into a delightful bolthole for two, overlooking its own pond, with distant views of Carningli mountain' The Observer, reviewed 2012

This delightful little cabin is more of a luxurious camping indoor experience than a cottage - you will be truly at one with nature here! No wonder the Observer's travel editor, Joanne O'Connor recommends it as the perfect place for 'an affordable romantic break with views and a log fire' (2012).

The morning and evening light is spectactular, which is why artists loved to paint from this special little retreat. It is situated directly by its own pond and has views over it to the Carningli Mountain. This is a true wildlife haven with badgers, otters, frogs, ducks and geese, all visitors to the Little Barn at one time or another. Read a charming blog with photos, from guest Emma Bradshaw who booked Little Barn together with Ty Glas next door.

There are an amazing collection of wildflowers and grasses including orchids that grow in the surrounding meadows. There is even a little boat for you to while away your evenings on the pond, watch the dragon flies hover on water and watch the swallows swooping romantically overhead. Wow, how lovely is the little barn and Netti and Hugo are the nicest couple you could wish to meet. We had an amazing time away from it all, sitting by the lake for breakfast and dinner , playing boa...

Wow, how lovely is the little barn and Netti and Hugo are the nicest couple you could wish to meet. We had an amazing time away from it all, sitting by the lake for breakfast and dinner , playing board games, reading , chatting, watching the wildlife in fact doing all the things there is never enough time to do in our all to busy lives. Who couldn't be happy here ,it's just perfect.

We had a magical time in Little Barn. It felt like a true sanctuary; ideal for a relaxing and intimate weekend. It was the perfect combination of rustic and simple, with luxurious bedding and bathroom. Nettie and Hugo are the cherry on the cake; wonderful, warm, welcoming and incredible artists.

The Little Barn is the most perfect place for a complete break from the world. No internet, no phone signal, just a wonderful, open setting and a view of the large pond each morning over breakfast. This was our second visit and this time we rented Ty Glas as well. Our daughter took up residence in the little barn, while we stayed in the cottage. We usually breakfasted here while watching the dragonflies skimming over the pond and ate our evening meal in Ty Glas, just to be fair! Hugo and Netti were the perfect hosts, thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful place with us!

The Little Barn was perfect and the location the perfect escape from our madly busy lives. Neti & Hugo very friendly hosts. Thoroughly enjoyed making bread in the little stove and the pleasure derived from just sitting watching the lake was immeasurable.

Perfect 4-day holiday, even though only a day and a half of sun, because Little Barn is a peaceful, mooding place with plenty of wildlife to watch. Simple, but not basic, comfortable but not luxurious, compact but not cramped, it is the ideal bolt-hole, while nearby Newport (Dyfed) provides sufficient shops and good places to eat when it's necessary to emerge.

We booked the Little Barn for our honeymoon and fell in love with it immediately. It really is a dreamy place where time stands still. We whiled away the evenings eating outdoors, BBQ(ing) and spent many hours just gazing across the pond into the distance. We even tried the little private boat out, which proved a very romantic thing to do. Whoever stays here will not be disappointed as the little barn is a truely magical place and will always hold a very special place in our hearts. x

Lovely tranquil holiday in the perfect location. Little Barn is ideally situated for exploring the Pembrokeshire and Cardigan coast during the day although you'll want to spend the evenings chilling out in front of the fire with the front door open to the pond. Nature lover's paradise and star watcher's heaven. Comfiest bed ever!

We have started our first week of marriage in paradise. Stayed in Little Barn to celebrate our wedding, 2 new jobs a new house and a 29th Birthday!. We had not slept for weeks!!! Little Barn has been the cure to stress and the best honeymoon we could have wished for. We have basked in the sun, watched the bees , dragonflies and swooping swallows as well as 100's of tiny frogs. We have laughed daily at the pony with his mullet hair and fondness for scratching himself on the branch. We had a (wobbly) row in the boat and have walked a part of the Pembrokeshire coastal path every day. Nettie and Hugo are 2 of the nicest people we have ever had the pleasure to meet.If the rest of our lives as a married couple are as filled with joy as this week has been - we will be a very lucky pair :). We don't ever want to leave!!. Many thanks always for some wonderful memories to be cherished forever. Hope very much to return soon. Gem and Phil Dunn. July 2014

Thanks for letting us stay in the amazing Little Barn! As an artist I have wanted to stay in a retreat like this for ages - so tranquil! As a couple we loved making fires and cooking on the girdle was a fantastic feeling and one we will not forget!. The horse was a nice surprise as well, and we look forward to coming back soon to make friends with him and get a chance to row around the pond in the boat. We tried to take the bed, shower and oven with us but failed. Thanks again! Tom and Theo.
