'Rhiwson is an historic longhouse in the Teifi valley, west Wales. The Grade II-listed house has a thatch and tin roof, a four-poster bed, a garden with a millpond and an orchard. There are no roads in sight and guests have free access to 180 acres of pasture.' The Guardian, selecting it as the best location for a family Christmas. An historic Welsh longhouse (c.1710) with wonderful views across the Teifi valley and 180 acres of pasture over which you have free access. Great for two couples/ family groups as it splits internally into two wings. The ancient thatched roof has been preserved under a protective layer of tin since the 1920s, and Rhiwson is now Grade II* Listed for its historic interest. Inside has recently been modernised in a comfortable modern farmhouse style. No roads in sight or earshot, and although the property manager lives in the converted stabling across the farmyard your windows virtually all face the other way across open fields. See larger photos of this Welsh longhouse or an aerial photo. Home-cooked evening meals can be delivered hot (arrange with manager after booking). Independent 5* review. "What a fabulous place! We don't want to go home. We have been very lucky with the glorious sunshine and have enjoyed exploring the little towns and beautiful beaches -Three Cliffs Bay on the Gower and Poppit sands just west of Cardigan are highly recommended!. This is our fourth stay with Under The Thatch and I cannot find any other agent that beats the properties. After a stressful few months at work this has been the perfect retreat- feel very content and relaxed 'UTT' our little secret!" ~ Sarah, Tony and Kira - stayed April "It has been a long trip from our home in Germany but worth every kilometre for this wonderfully renovated and welcoming cottage. Every day we awoke with that wonderful feeling of peace and freedom. We hope to come back again" ~ Martina, Eugin and family from Spindel, Germany, "5 months since our last visit and just as good as we remembered. Brought our son this time. Visited Lampeter, Poppit sands, New Quay and enjoyed a walk at Hafod near Devil's Bridge. Fantastic bacon baps at little cafe opposite Devil Bridge Station after 2 hr walk. Weather fantastic - going home with a sun-tan! Hubby enjoyed cooking on the Rayburn and walking up the hill each morning kept me and son fit!" ~ Phil, Allyson, Stephen and Duffy the dog. stayed March |
