Access Statement

Under the Thatch welcomes disabled customers. If you have any access requirements you may find the information below useful. However, if you have any questions regarding the accessibility of our accommodation please do not hesitate to contact us with your enquiry.

Deaf or Hard of Hearing?

  • We are contactable via minicom on 01239 851 870 Monday to Friday from 10am. Please email us if you cannot get through by Minicom.
  • If you prefer to use Typetalk then we are very familiar with the service.
  • All televisions are equipped with teletext. There is also a DVD player at all accommodation except the Romany Caravan and Tyr Gof which has no television.
  • We are contactable by mobile phone and text messages during your stay on 07974 706 003.
  • Hearing dogs for the deaf are welcome at all properties.
  • There are currently no fire alarm systems for the deaf installed at our cottages. However, this is something we would like to implement in the future.

Blind or partially sighted?

  • Large print versions of some of the information we give to visitors is available – please request in advance.
  • Some of the information we give to visitors can be put on an audiotape on request.
  • The gypsy caravan is lit only by 20W fairy lights (though the cabin is brightly lit).
  • Guide dogs are welcome at all properties.

Poor mobility or wheelchair user?

  • Please note that the cottages are old, listed buildings and thus have not been designed with wheelchair access in mind. There are steps to or within the ground floor areas of all of the cottages and the bathrooms are not adapted for wheelchair users.
  • Each of the cottages have a car parking space next to them. The parking space for the gypsy caravan west wales is a 100m walk. Access to the train carrage is via the cliff path.
  • Each of the cottages has a croglofft sleeping area, which are only reachable by climbing a set of steep stairs. However, all the cottages except Ty'r Gof also have downstairs sleeping areas. At the gypsy caravan there is a set of steep stairs from the caravan to its cabin. If there is anything you feel we should be doing to improve accessibility then please do let us know.

If you have specific requirements and would like to check the suitability of any of our accommodation prior to booking please email us and we are more than happy to advise you.
