about the property

Bespoke lakeside shepherd's hut on the shore with cool outdoor 'cube' for fireside evenings overlooking the bay, on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way!

We're lucky enough to own a wonderful piece of land on Traighenna Bay, a sheltered stretch of water on Ireland's famous 'Wild Atlantic Way'. We've designed and built 'Lakeside Luna' to sit on the edge of a beautiful pool, and also 'Kuba' alongside where guests can enjoy their evenings under cover with a wood-burning stove. It's an entirely self-contained private unit that is comfortable all year round.

Luna has been carefully designed to contain all the essentials - a quality (fullsize) double bed, fridge, cooker etc, and a small shower and toilet room inside. Outside you've decking and Kuba, an 'outdoor cube' we designed so you could enjoy the views fireside in any weather.

A 5 minute drive will take you to Dooey beach (one of the finest in Ireland) or there are smaller, sandy beaches on the way. You can walk to the shore from Luna, but it's best to nip into the car for the really nice sandy beaches. Locally youll find an amazing coastline, small-towns, good food, Glenveigh National Park and plenty to fill weeks of day trips.

travel info

You can easily fly by lowcost carrier but we prefer the greener (and nicer) route by ferry with your own car. Ireland is such an amazing country, and you'll find so much to do and see 'en route'.

Note Aer Lingus often have deals as cheap as Ryanair/ Easyjet and fly to 15 UK airports

Fly to:

Sail with either Stenaline or Irish Ferries to:

  • Belfast via Liverpool/ Stranraer (2 hr. 35 mins. away)
  • Larne via Fleetwood (2 hr. 40 mins.)
  • Dublin via Holyhead/ Douglas (3 hr. 30 min.)
  • Dun Laoghaire via Holyhead (3 hr. 35 mins.)
  • Rosslare via Fishguard/ Pembroke Dock (5 hr. 15 mins and and an amazing drive)
    (Tip - ferries cheapest Mon>Thu)

in detail

  • Parking for 1 car
  • Decking and exclusive use of your own small pool
  • Access via gated drive

  • Double bed (good mattress)

  • Electric 'wood-burner' (note Luna is double glazed and insulated like a modern house).
  • Hot water in the kithen and bathroom
  • Fridge with small ice box
  • Sink for washing up
  • Small oven grill microwave
  • Shower room with fullsize shower, toilet, handbasin

  • Woodburning stove (first basket of fuel supplied)
