This is a great location and a lovely place to stay. Full of fascinating vintage furnishings and objects. Recommend Bruton, Frome, Glastonbury and a little further afield, Bristol and Bath

We had a very nice time in this quirky cottage. Attention paid to detail and it felt very 'authentic'. Great location.

The cottage is very sweet, furnished and decorated with so much thought, and in the most beautiful setting.

We had such a special few days with our young children, 2 and 4. The cottage was perfect for our needs and great to be in the countryside surrounded by nature and lovely people. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The cottage was excellent, small homely with lovely period touches and trinkets everywhere, even storm Isha didn't dampen our enjoyment, highly recommended for a short break.

All I can say is wow. I booked in February and have been looking forward to our stay. The cottage exceeded my expectations in every way. Full of interesting things to look at. Warm and comfortable. A real break from the modern world. Our only complaint is that we didn't meet the owner's dog. Hope to return in the future.

We absolutely loved our short break here - the place has been so brilliantly restored with amazing attention to detail, so many traditional things to look at, and yet everything you need for a comfortable stay. Lovely helpful and friendly owners (and dog!)

What a wonderful few days spent at the tin cottage. Such an authentic experience, complete with air raid siren. I slept in the attic rms which I adored. Beautiful location & warm welcome. I'd love to experience the cottage in winter with the fire going. I Would definitely recommend this stay to anyone with a love of the era.

Had a lovely couple of nights at the tin cottage - very peaceful and relaxing to switch off and go back in time! Enjoyed the garden too, and a visit from a woodpecker as well as Dunstan popping by. Easy journey into Glastonbury for a walk up the Tor for a great view.

I’m increasingly enjoying holidays that are only a short distance to get to. Baltonsborough is the perfect little village, just outside Glastonbury. We live near Chepstow, so it was only an hour and a half to get to. The Tin Cottage is a privilege to stay in. Warm, comfy, and of course, a bit like living in a vintage museum room set, it really got me thinking about tiny homes, and how small spaces can be perfect. Id willingly live here, with its garden enclosed for my little dog, strolling down to the tiny wood at the bottom of the garden to watch the sun set by the Tor. In the meantime, I’ll just console myself with rebooking. Thank you Mary and Michael.

Bijoux bolthole. Ideal for wrinkly tin afficionados and lovers of all thingsthings vintage. Good for dogs but bring wellingtons in winter as the footpaths get very muddy. Don't miss the pains au chocolate at the village bakery, open every day usually from 8

We had a perfect weekend and loved how quirky the cottage was . We particularly enjoyed the cosy fire in the evenings. Be aware that there is no double bed. The cottage is close to Ham Wall nature reserve and lots of lovely historic churches to explore.

What a wonderful place to stay! We were booked to stay over Valentine's Day, but Covid restrictions meant that could not go ahead, so we booked for Christmas. On the website the hut looks amazing, however when we arrived it took our breath away! Very comfortable, very warm, very quirky, wonderful.

We had a brilliant time at this unique cabin! The authenticity makes the stay exciting and memorable. The cabin had everything we needed - equipped with a great kitchen, records and comfy beds.

We have stayed at a few UTT properties over the years, all of which could be described as 'quirky', however, the Land Girls' Cabin takes the crown. We were very excited to be staying there, but it surpassed all our expectations - it was so peaceful, and so cosy and we felt completely immersed in the era, surrounded as we were by all the period details and memorabilia. There were just enough mod cons to make it comfortable - a hob, electric kettle and toaster, fridge/freezer - while still providing an authentic experience. We particularly enjoyed relaxing with the large choice of books while listening to WW2 music on the 'wireless', listening to the tawny owl in the woods, lying in the bath looking up at the trees, walking through the woods to admire the sunsets and the Tor, evenings spent playing Beggar my neighbour and Happy Families and, of course, the visits from the very well behaved Dunstan, who stole our hearts! We were touched by the welcoming gifts of homemade shortbread, ale and ginger ale for our 11 year old - very apt as we were having a thoroughly Famous Five trip - and charmed by the little touches around the cabin to discover. I'm only disappointed that it was too cosy to light the fire - not once did we feel cold.

We stayed here and could not recommend this enough. The Cabin is almost an art installation in the style of the times. The Cabin is warm and very cosy, is well situated, has a wonderful garden and very welcoming and generous hosts.

We had a really fantastic stay in this very special little cottage. My children felt fully immersed in history and loved every minute. The cabin was warm and cosy and had everything we needed for our stay and lots of little extra touches that we appreciated. The beds were warm and comfortable and the views and atmosphere perfect.

Mary and Michael have created something wonderful and unique with this cottage. It is crammed with fascinating memorabilia - we particularly loved the old magazines and newspapers. The outdoor space is beautiful, with vines, figs, apples and herbs as well as the amazing Andersen shelter, the pigs at the bottom of the garden, and visits from the adorable dog Dunstan (a highlight). It's also in the middle of a beautiful part of England with many wonderful walks and towns and villages to visit. Just a note: The cabin is very comfortable, solid, and warm, with modern conveniences like mains sockets, WiFi and a ceramic hob cleverly camouflaged among the 1940s decor. But it is nevertheless a fairly authentic space - so if things like a modern shower, dishwasher, full-size oven, freezer etc are important to you on your holiday, this may not be the best choice.

Unique accommodation in a lovely location which is excellent for nice country walks. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Land Girls Cottage. Absolutely delightful cosy cottage filled with amazing care and attention to detail. Comfy beds, well stocked and a great big bath. The view from the garden is breath taking and provided just the break we needed. There was a suprise added bonus of Dunstan the dog and a family of pigs who we loved and were the cherry on the homemade 1940s cake. We will definitely come back and thanks for being such great hosts.

Hi we had a fabulous time in this time capsule. Our children have been studying WWII at school and this weekend really brought history to life for them. So many little details - including the little mice poking out of their skirting board holes! Thank you for having us

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend in the corrugated cottage and only wish I’d been able to be there longer! Me and my partner love anything vintage and period and this place is very well done, with just enough modern touches (modern electric kettle!) to make it very comfortable too. We had a coal fire going pretty much the whole weekend, tried to get the oven section going but think we must have missed a baffle or heat switch somewhere! What a lovely place Glastonbury is too, well worth leaving the cottage for an afternoon :)

Excellent cottage holiday. Skilful restoration of cabin including wonderful collection of domestic items all around the time of the Second World War. Children and adults spent hours looking at the memorabilia. Other places to visit are near but we only went out once. Our host and friendly dog got it just right. Cosy fire, garden and woods.

This has been a huge success! Helen loved the cabin, the environment and the village. Her family, likewise. It was a first holiday for her two granddaughters, 2 and 4, and they adored it! Helen was very impressed with the fine attention to period detail, and especially what the girls called “ the singing loopaper”. A wonderful gem of a place.

The Land Girls Cabin is an absolute treasure trove. In a beautiful location, it’s cosy and quirky, and every corner is filled with vintage trinkets to explore. We were so sad to leave early as our little girl was unwell, but the owners could not have been more welcoming and helpful, and as I said to them - we cannot wait to come back one day and make the most of the little cabin.

Delightful cottage and peaceful location, the cottage has everything you need, listened to chiff chaffs and green woodpecker in the morning and lovely and cosy next to the fire in the evening. We throughly enjoyed our weekend stay so much so my mum is planning on coming back for her 80th birthday in July!

What a place, this was a great cottage with lots of ww2 memorabilia that the owner has collected or bought from charity/Car boot sales. The owners were really lovely & we had such fun. We even dressed up as land girls. Recommend this place if you like qwerky places.

A lovely simple, cosy and nostalgic stay. All necessary conveniences and very warm. Lots of hot water for a hot bubble bath after those local walks across the levels. Good location for seeing lots that's great about somerset.

What an amazing little cottage, it was like having a holiday in a different era! We stayed in winter so were able to make full use of the open fire which kept everything very cosy. The period features are outstanding and the owners have an excellent eye for detail, it was a pleasure to stay back in the forties (luckily without any air raids) We would recommend this to anybody who wants to get away from the modern world for a relaxing break.

Just the place for an evocative and interesting yet relaxing stay. My boys loved it, the large garden, piglets, Dunston the dog, making a fire in the Anderson shelter, listening to 40s tunes on the record player...Lots to see in the area, we only scratched the surface, we will be back soon I hope

Myself and my 9 year old daughter (and old Labrador) spent an enchanting three nights at the Land Girls Cottage. We felt as if we'd been transported back in time and spent hours exploring the delightful details of this wonderful cottage. We didn't venture too far (apart from an amazing Flea Market at Shepton Mallet) as we couldn't tear ourselves away from passing the time in this quirky cottage and garden. We took some local walks with the dog and it's a stunning area to explore. The cottage owners (who live next door) are fantastically welcoming and took my daughter off to feed their pet sheep and pigs - she felt like a proper land girl. Only downside - we wish we'd stayed longer and had chance to explore a bit more.

Really quirky and great fun. There's lots to look at and discover throughout the cottage. We went for Mum's birthday and she said it was a fantastic experience she'd never forget.

Couldn't have asked for a sweeter place to stay! Our children loved this place and it was really good for accomodating dogs with fields and a garden on the doorstep. I wish we could have had longer. I would definitely recommend!

What an enchanting place! We loved stepping back in time and discovering all the vintage paraphernalia this place is packed with. My little boy loved the attic room and the old viewfinders, plus the Andersen shelter was a big hit! Visiting the pigs at the bottom of the garden to feed them our scraps was a highlight for me, though I was sad at the thought of what was going to happen to them... Loved the surrounding areas, really enjoyed our dog walks at nearby Coombe Hill woods. The Land Girls' House has been added to our list of UTT places to revisit!

We loved the land girls house - it is a perfect 1940s time capsule,it was warm and cosy,and a most relaxing easy place to stay.Highly recommended for a "girls" get together.completely different and really good fun.

Beautiful, peaceful location and great for exploring the local area. The hut is amazing! The attention to detail is brilliant- we kept discovering more hidden gems. The Anderson shelter was great fun. The owners were great and left a food parcel which was really appreciated. We also loved visiting and feeding the nearby pigs. This holiday hut provides unique accommodation with great historical details. Highly recommended.

We loved staying at the Land Girls' house. Our two girls (5 and 8 y) adored their little bedroom and all the little secrets hidden around the house. We listened to Elvis on the record player, kept warm by the fire, and had a wonderful time. We ate outside once, if we'd had sunnier weather we'd have eaten outside more often as the view was lovely. Highly recommended!

We had a perfect long weekend in the Land Girls House back in March. Surprise birthday away for the two of us plus dog, and really couldn't have asked for a more fun, cute, unique and comfy few days. Loved exploring the little details of the cottage, playing board games in front of the stove and watching woodpeckers tapping away in the woods adjacent to the garden. Beautiful, easy walking from the door, and a real feeling of cosyness that is rare in holiday rentals. Very much recommended!

We were only there for two nights, but wish we could have stayed longer. The place is a gem - everything themed 40s/50s. My modern kids loved discovering the record player “What’s *that*?!”. Cosy, quirky and a real treat.

Lovely tin cottage, amazing decor inside. Loved the open fire, vintage larder and record player. Kids loved their "room in the attic" and having their own little den. Would recommend.

What a wonderful experience. We were only there for a few days but in that time we were totally blow over with how the person who put the cottage together had made everything 1940 s. If you want a relaxing break with a living in a museum thrown in this is the place. For young children sleeping up a ladder in a loft place would be so exciting. Just for info. If your staying longer than a few days you need to think about meals that can be done on a hob or microwave as there is no cooker. Kathy

This was one of the very best short family breaks we have ever had!! Absolute heaven for our children and for us. We had a real rest sitting by the fireside and listening to 1940's music on the record player. So many things to look at and explore inside the house not to mention all the great things and places to visit nearby. We will definitely return and have been busy telling all our friends about it.

What a wonderful place! So cosy spent hours looking at all the books and things to discover, listening to LPs. Loved the Churchill speech on the stairs and all the extra touches like the camp coffee and even the loo roll holder! Owners lovely too - left milk and ginger beer for our arrival. Would thoroughly recommend!

We had a brilliant time at The Land Girls House! It was quirky, fun and extremely cosy. With the fire going and the record player on we really felt as if we had escaped to another era (with more luxuries and home comforts!). Thank you very much, a truly relaxing weekend.

***********5 have an adventure************* I booked The Land Girls House as a surprise 40th birthday retreat and could not have been more pleased with this delightful, quirky little house! 5 of us rocked up with the intention of living a vintage weekend and this place ticked all the boxes. Set in beautiful countryside, with stunning views of the village, it really was a step back in time. The house itself is small however catered for all our needs and we had great fun stoking the open fire & we even braved the range oven, which gave us the most delicious stew on the Saturday ( much needed as the weather was filthy that day) The sleeping arrangements were more than sufficient, with comfy beds and a degree of privacy in all spaces. And the lashings & lashings of hot water was fab! The attention to detail was fabulous, and we thoroughly enjoyed popping a record on the record player & sipping champagne. The memorabilia was great and we spent a good few hours perusing & remembering when life was lived at a gentler pace. I would (and have) recommended this property to anyone who likes to experience something a little different and for those who love vintage/WW2. Our special memory of the weekend was watching a most glorious sunset, whilst bats flew around the gardens. Just perfect!!

We had a fantastic time. The Land Girls House is a unique, quirky and thoroughly memorable holiday experience - superbly appointed, wonderfully cosy and great value for money. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful place - and so snug and warm! Listening to the owls at night was just marvelous! We are both members of a WW2 group so took our 1940 clothes down to take photos. Lovely, lovely place, private garden with shelter, and more hot water than you could possibly use. Fresh eggs as well. Great place, will be booking again.

Fabulous step back in time, a real living museum. So much detail it is hard to take it all in. If you're for something a bit different then you've just found it. Highly recommended for young and old alike. The owners are lovely and very welcoming. Couldn't have asked for more. Thanks for letting us stay.

Wonderful location, beautifully decorated and really atmospheric.

Place is fantastic, nostalgic and relaxing. Thoroughly recommended for either a girlie weekend, romance or smaller children. We enjoyed reading through all the memorabilia and listening to the 40s tunes on the record player. Our party was great grandma, grandma and our gran-daughter (3). She loved the loft bedroom and the Anderson shelter to play in. Another visit in the future is planned!

This was a truly unique stay. You feel transported back to a different time. All the fixtures and fitting are true to war time Britian, the attention to detail is very impressive. For kids, it's really exciting and like one big play house. For adults, there will be something you remember from you childhood, everything reminded me of my granny's house! And the Anderson Shelter is just great fun! The surrounding countryside is beautiful and a trip to Glastonbury is a must. Great fun, and something we will look back on and talk about for years to come.

Wow. We'll be back! We enjoyed every minute of our stay in the Land Girls House. We felt we were in a very comfortable 1940s bubble; sitting around the coal fire with an LP playing on the radiogram, serving meals - easily cooked with the modern cooker and kettle - in china from the era, relaxing in the wonderfully deep bath with lashing of hot water, sleeping in comfortable beds with cotton sheets and bedding with designs from the era. There are many, many authentic delights in every room that were a real pleasure to explore; many of which were still around in my childhood from the clip on bedside lamps, a rag rug, the kitchen cupboard with the let down flap all lovingly restored, gas mask, hair clips, books, games, newspaper cuttings . . . I could go on! Thanks for having achieved a great balance between well hidden modern facilities which meant we were warm and comfortable and the delights of stepping back in time to an authentic 1940s home. As a daughter and two granddaughters of a land army girl we're proud to be the first visitors - Cath 2014
