about the property

Welsh holiday cottage in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, West Wales. This historic converted Pembrokeshire 'capel' has been turned into a stylish holiday home near Whitesands beach.

Capel Tŷ Ddewi is the oldest 'capel' in Pembrokeshire, founded in 1784, sitting along the coast from wonderful Whitesands beach. It is a simple, handsome vernacular building now converted into a luxury holiday home. In the summer months a small shuttle minibus passes through the village that you can pick up to make the coastal walks easier - choosing, for example, to walk one way and then take the minibus home.

The owners have sympathetically used traditional and natural materials in their renovation, returning character to the building that had lost its historic interior decades ago. The views to the front and rear of the property have a coastal feel with amazing sunsets and views towards the sea and open countryside.  Located conveniently to many of the outstanding beaches that Pembrokeshire enjoys, this cottage is a joy with its beautiful surroundings, coastal walks, coasteering, and activities, all within a short drive or walk.

A lovely weekend at Capel Dewi, super comfortable cottage in a great spot a mile out of St Davids, very clean & uncluttered. Not much traffic passes & easy access to coast. Kitchen well equipped for holiday meals, open plan design beautifully crafted throughout

We spent a lovely long weekend here at the end of January. The cottage was exactly what I was looking for - spacious, uncluttered, lots of natural materials, comfy bed, and of course the wonderfully cosy log burner. We were blessed with dry, calm days and so were able to visit our favourite haunts for walks and coffee, but would have been happy to while away a rainy day with a book or jigsaw. We didn't actually do any cooking but the kitchen area was well provisioned. The sonos was a bonus, and with the open plan we could listen to music from bed. Clear welcome folder and instructions for Covid-safe checkout. Fey the housekeeper was there to meet us - and the house was immaculate. The parking initially looked a bit tight, but was fine for an estate car. We would love to come back again!

A beautiful, clean and comfortable cottage in a wonderful location. However it is not really equipped adequately for 6 people. Only 2 outdoor sun loungers, only 2 outdoor dining chairs for example.

Lovely, comfortable cottage around 5 mins drive outside of ST David’s. Well equipped, v comfortable beds and a good size for a family of 4.

An absolute gem of a place. I could feel my shoulders relax the minute we stepped into the cottage. A perfect location to explore the beautiful coastline & beaches. Thank you

We loved staying at Capel Ty Ddewi. The property had everything we needed, was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The surrounding areas are fantastic for swimming and hiking. It was really well located, just outside of St David’s, in a quiet, countryside location (5mins drive from a supermarket). We will definitely be back.

Wow! What a beautiful cottage. Very spacious and comfortable. Close to St David’s town, beautiful beaches including Whitesands and Abereiddy. The children loved swimming in the blue lagoon with the seals! Will definitely return.

Wow!! What a beautiful place to stay. Tastefully decorated, lots of home comforts, very comfortable beds, lovely wood burning stove and everything we needed to self cater for our 3 day break. Easy walking distance from St Davids and Whitesands beach, a private decking area to enjoy the morning and afternoon sun. Fey was very helpful during our stay and keeps the cottage in excellent condition. I can highly recommend this accommodation to families and couples. Be aware of the open plan living arrangement for the whole cottage though as you can hear a pin drop from either end of the building which can create some interesting conversations over breakfast haha!

Comfortable, well-designed cottage with lots of attention to detail. We had a lovely stay and would absolutely recommend it!

A tastefully restored old chapel with spacious and quite luxurious accommodation. It is very comfortable and we particularly enjoyed the sofa and the quality mattress of the bed in the master bedroom complemented by the linen bedding - bliss! Parking is a little challenging but would definitely stay again.

Good venue for our holiday we enjoyed the Old Chapel and its facilities. It is a lovely conversion and really handy for excursions. The house is very well equipped (although a couple more pans would have been handy). thanks for your part in a relaxing holiday.

A lovely retreat in rural St David's. There are lots to do here including some of the best coastal views ever (Porthgain to Aberreiddy) and my five year old had a great time getting to know Boris the spider at the Sloop Inn at Porthgain. The cottage was fabulous and provided a comfortable base from which to explore Pembrokeshire...the beds are super!

This is a truly beautiful property which has been sympathetically renovated to a high standard. We felt immediately at home and found it both tranquil and relaxing. It's in a great, peaceful location very close to St Davids and within driving distance of some of the best beaches in Pembrokeshire like Marloes Sands and Barafundle. We'd highly recommend it.

I have stayed in this property a number of times, returning because we love it so much. It is a beautiful property, which has been renovated to an excellent standard and is a very special place. It is in a wonderful location, well located for both a number of fabulous beaches, walks and also close to the lovely town of St David's. The property is light, airy, well laid out and very clean, with high quality furnishings, bed linen and towels. The owners are very helpful and I would thoroughly recommend this property. It is one of my favourite places.

Wow... we loved this place! The cottage is a little piece of tranquillity set on the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast. On arrival we instantly switched off from the worries and stresses of everyday life - the whole place has a really calming influence on you by the way it's decorated and by the beautiful setting and surroundings. We enjoyed coastal walks and fresh air (as well as a few visits to one of the many lovely local pubs... 'The Sloop Inn' in Porthgain is a must)! With a 4 year old we were concerned that there wouldn't be much in the way of entertainment for him but we needn't have worried - trips to the beach, fish & chips on the sand and a impromptu swim in the Blue Lagoon were enough to put a smile on his face and with all the fresh air it was early nights for him and time for the adults to enjoy a bottle of wine on the outside deck area and watch the sunset... perfect! Just a mile or so from St David's, this very stylish Chapel conversion works extremely well, and is a great base to stay in a popular area. The Old Chapel is comfortable, cosy, and smart - well thought-out, with good facilities for cooking, dining, and chilling out (not sure about the cooker controls, but it all worked!). Great bedrooms and bathrooms, and a sunny patio at the rear. We were delighted to find this retreat and hope to return - highly recommended on all fronts! Simon - July 2014
