about the property

Brecon Beacons contemporary barn near Hay-on-Wye and Abergavenny. Secluded, but not far from pubs, restaurants and shops. Great for a family holiday at Offa's Dyke.

Ysgubor y Ffin (Border Barn) lies in one of the most beautiful rural locations in the UK, enjoying marvellous views of Offa's Dyke and Red Daren from the doorstep. The house was converted from an 18th-century barn into a spacious home, combining original oak beamed character with a comfortable, contemporary living style.

The house provides spacious accommodation for up to 6 guests: the main house sleeps 6 guests (it is priced for 6). If you would like to book for up to 10 people you can stay in our cottage annexe, that sleeps an extra 4 allowing different generations of the same family to holiday together comfortably, whilst retaining their own private spaces. Please see the Ysgubor Y Ffin Estate listing here for more details.

Ysgubor y Ffin is perfect for walkers -  you have direct access to a network of public footpaths that lead to Black Hill, the Offa's Dyke footpath, and Hay Bluff.

The house provides both privacy and tranquillity, yet are only 5 minutes drive from the nearest village, with shop, pub and post office.

This is a beautiful house in an absolutely stunning spot. There is a lovely distribution of space in the house allowing for several different areas to socialise, read or relax depending on the moment. The outside seating areas mean you can make the most of nice weather. All the rooms are really nice, the beds are very comfortable making for a good night's sleep. We loved the well kitted out kitchen which had everything we needed. Thank you very much. Lydia

September 2018

Lovely venue for family get together with spectacular views of Offas Dyke. A party of 10, aged from 10 to 83 there was plenty of comfy space for everyone to socialise, good kitchen and great outdoor space. Highly recommended.

The place has spectacular views, is peaceful and relaxing and the house and annexe have been beautifully done. There is a perfect amount of space for shared activities as well as spaces for people to have relaxed time alone. We absolutely loved our time away and are looking to book again as we didn’t want to leave. - Becky

August 2018

The house is fantastic: authentic with a modern twist, spacious cottage annex, great outdoor terrace (with gas BBQ) , super convenient range cooker, lots of interesting books. The surroundings are breath taking...no words to describe it... Even when it's dark: never seen the milky way before... - Katrien

August 2018

Excellent accomodation and amazing spot. Especially loved the large very private garden with spectacular views. Ate outside and used the BBQ most nights. We had three generations of family staying from age 12 to 85 and everyone had a great time. Beautiful area of the country to visit. Kids went swimming at the Warren in nearby Haye on Wye. Katie

Our second time here and loved it even more than last time. Just such an amazing place! Brilliant location, awesome place, super comfy and cosy and we were lucky enough with the Spring weather to eat outside and make use of the whole space. Great place for birders too, saw red kite and redstart and heard cuckoos from the garden. - Hollie

April 2018

Such a wonderful place to stay, the views are amazing. A very beautiful house which is warm and clean and homely. We had a wonderful time and would definitely like to book again next year. - Debbie

April 2018

"Beautiful barn, cottage and location. Really nicely furnished property, with a striking modern steel staircase and wonderful wood-burner in the main living space. A great combination of rustic barn and modern comfort. Homely, functional and very well-equipped kitchen. We arrived in the dark and were aghast at the beauty of the surrounding valley when we woke. Stars at night were amazing in clear weather. Projector and quality speakers/surround sound for a cosy film night. We walked to the nearby castle, shop and pub in Longtown. We would love to return.” - Ben
