about the property

Restored by our friends Roland and Ralph at Ffin y Parc near Betws-y-Coed – one of the finest quality holiday cottages in Snowdonia mountains and North Wales. We're delighted they asked us to be their agents.

  • Selected by the Observer newspaper as the best self-catering for a 'great outdoors' break in Snowdonia!

This former washhouse is a conversion within a stone service wing behind one of the finest Conwy valley country estates - Ffin y Parc. It has been lovingly renovated to a high standard, with original artwork by well-known British artists. You have access over the 14 acres of grounds, parkland and Victorian kitchen garden.

Your cottage is just three miles from Betws-Y-Coed (generally considered the heart of the National Park), and close to some breathtaking mountain walks and miles of gorgeous beaches, this makes it the perfect retreat for two as a special romantic getaway.

If you're looking to come with friends we have three apartments within the service wings of Ffin y Parc country house.

The cottage was well located for walks in the Conwy valley. The owners were helpful in sorting out a problem with the heating.

Perfect stay! Very sorry to hear that ralph and roland are selling the place!

- Eric N, Utrecht (Netherlands),

The cottage was lovely. Downstairs the kitchen diner and bathroom were modern and functional, upstairs was cosy and comfortable, the whole place was spotlessly clean. Thank you Roland and Ralph for your warm welcome, and for the goodies in the welcome pack, so generous.

- Elizabeth robertson ,

What a lovely tranquil setting! Loads to do within a very short distance of the cottage. Hosts helpful and friendly without being intrusive.

- Maxine C,

Another idyllic stay at Llofft Un. The cottage is beautifully clean, stylish and spacious. The grounds make a peaceful setting and we enjoyed sitting out to read and relax and enjoy a coffee. The gallery and cafe in the main house are great and the Conwy valley makes for a beautiful situation with many walks, gardens, castles and towns to visit. Look forward to returning very soon! Thanks very much to the owners for a delightful cottage - Annie

A warm welcome by the owner and a lovely place to stay for a winter weekend. Really comfortable. The gallery next door is superb and an added bonus. We will return. Diolch yn fawr iawn.

- Melanie W,

A very relaxing stay at a lovely property. It was cosy, warm and clean and a joy to return to at the end of the day. The host was very welcoming and we appreciated the wine, coffee and cake left for us on arrival. A highlight was a browse in the adjoining gallery. All highly recommended.

- Elsbeth G,
2023

Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect. After a couple of really busy weeks escaping to Lloft Un was just what we needed. The property is warm, snug, luxurious and sitting in front of the log burner, lying in bed listening to the owls on the hillside and walking in the most beautiful grounds was a real escape to a little bit of heaven. The hosts are superb and the wine, coffee and cake, a welcome and lovely touch. I highly recommend and am already thinking ......when can I escape to Lloft Un again. Thank you!

- Kate warbrick ,

A wonderful few days in a spectacular setting. Llofft Un is a beautiful cottage, decorated to a high standard with lovely quirky touches. The grounds of Ffin y Parc are beautiful and offered a great location for a glass of wine at the end of our days out (Bodnant Gardens are nearby and well worth visiting). The welcome gifts were a lovely touch and much appreciated. We did have a quick look around the art gallery in the main house (and I am still thinking about one painting I took a fancy to), but didn't spend enough time there to do it justice - a perfect excuse to visit again!

- Ann D,
2022

No complaints loved the cottage. Great location nice and quiet yet only 5 to 10 mins via car into Betws-y-coed. Would stay again and will be recommending this place to friends and family.

- Gary L,

Gorgeous stay in a very stylish and comfortable cottage. Fully equipped with extra treats for our arrival. Very reasonable price for the standard of self-catering. Hugely peaceful and idyllic stay

- Lauren M,

We loved our stay here. Gorgeous cottage, beautifully furnished and very snug and comfortable. The food and art gallery next door and the owners were a delight!

- Joanne W,
2022

Llofft Un was a perfect spot to stay for a long weekend. Ralph our host was lovely and showed us around our accommodation on arrival. The accommodation was perfect, cosy and quirky. It was all in driving distance of Llangollen and Betws-y-Coed. The rain did not put us off exploring and drying off by the log burner when we got back was lovely. The complimentary brownies were perfect with a bit of cream! The gallery and coffee shop are also worth a visit to set you up for your day ahead. We will definitely be back!

- Lindsey G,
2022

We enjoyed a 4 night stay in Lofft Un, I wish it could have been longer. the cottage was warm and cosy on a chilly welsh summer day. Decorated in a very eclectic style it was a pleasure to stay in. Finn Y Parc is situated in the lovely Conwy Valley and gives easy access to most of North wales. The gallery and house are well worth a visit. We will be booking again in the near future.

- Elizabeth L,
2022

We had a great time at Llofft Un. The cottage was very cleverly laid out with more or less anyone could want for a peaceful and comfortable stay. The gallery and coffee shop were remarkably good - surely amongst the very best displays of contemporary art anywhere in North Wales. It is a perfect place to stay for easy road access to all the gorgeous and secretly wonderful places from Harlech to Conwy. Great.

- Philip T,
2022

Dear Ralph and Roland, just back from a heavenly few days at Ffin y Parc… the house, grounds, especially the gallery and cafe were just simply my perfect holiday in Snowdonia and North Wales. Some great Welsh artists and presentation of their works. Llofft Un the laundry cottage is an extension of this and the calibre of sophistication, quite unexpected. I cannot recommend more highly, and we shall return many a time. Thank you for the lovely welcome. Carlie

- Carlie E,

This was our second stay at Llofft Un at Ffin y Parc and we enjoyed a wonderful few days. The cottage is very cosy with an extremely comfortable bed and is beautifully clean. The end of March weather veered from hot and sunny to hail with snow on the mountains so we were able to both sit outside on our patio for afternoon tea and wander around the daffodil filled grounds, as well as keep warm inside with the log burner blazing! Great to have the gallery next door and a perfect location for walking. Thanks for the welcome gifts. Annie

I really enjoyed my Christmas break at Llofft Un. The cottage was stylishly and seasonally decorated and had all the amenities I needed. The welcome treats were especially welcome! It was good to be able to explore the grounds and surrounding area and fall asleep to the sound of the owls after a good day. Highly recommended.

- Richard C,

We had a wonderful few days staying at Llofft Un at Ffin y Parc for our wedding anniversary. The cottage is very clean and comfortable with a stylish interior and great art! The situation in the Conwy Valley is perfect for visiting gardens, waterfalls and castles along with beautiful walks. The gallery and cafe next door to the cottage are excellent and the setting is stunning! Appreciated the addition of the quirky Christmas ornaments and the 'welcome' gifts. Thanks very much indeed. Annie

- Annie L,

The cottage is in an ideal location to access Snowdonia and have local amenities close by. The top open-plan room is so cosy, especially with the woodburner, and the kitchen is well equipped. The whole place was perfectly clean and offered us everything we needed to get warm and rest after a day of hiking. We had a wonderful time here and would highly recommend it to anyone!

- Isabelle P,

Y Golchdy is a landmark house beautifully adapted as accommodation and gallery space. Roomy, furnished with care, and so great to have the run of the grounds as well. Brilliantly located for Snowdonia and so many town in north wales. Loved our stay, it had a bit of magic.

- Ami S,
2021

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Llofft sun. The owners have taken great care to create a restful space with everything you may need; the welcome treats were generous and very much appreciated. The grounds are delightful and, despite the inclement weather, we were able to sit in the walled garden with a glass of wine and watch the sunset. Take time to visit the art gallery as the art displayed celebrates a number of talented local artists and the homemade cakes are delicious.

- Sue B,
2021

Lovely cottage in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.

- Vanda S,
2021

We looked forward to returning to this wonderful cottage every evening and relaxing with a glass of wine in the beautiful grounds and marveling at the views. Great location for exploring Snowdonia. There is a very stylish art gallery next door with a fabulous cafe and the whole operation is run by two very welcoming hosts.

- Joanne K,
2021

A delightful cottage for two combining a historic property with modern kitchen and bathroom. The position, in the grounds of the country house art gallery, between Betws-y-Coed and Llanwrst, is perfect for exploring all the area has to offer without being in the middle of a town or struggling for parking space. The hosts are helpful and welcoming and the cafe next door does superb lunches when open. it is also an excellent art gallery. There is a well-stocked Co-op with a car park in nearby Llanwrst.

- Mary A,
2021

Great accommodation, located perfectly to be.able to explore the wider Snowdonia National Park and beyond. The accommodation was of high quality with everything you will need to enjoy your stay is provided for you. A real credit to the owners and would highly recommend for you to stop there.

- Kevin W,

What a little gem. This quirky one bedroom cottage is gorgeous and beautifully comfortable and well designed. It's a great bonus being next door to the gallery and cafe/wine bar, which serves delicious food and wines. You also benefit from the lovely gardens surrounding the main house. Its location is a good springboard for exploring Snowdonia and Anglesey and there are excellent restaurants close by in Llanwrst and Bettsy Coed. With welcoming and helpful hosts, this is a fabulous cottage for a short stay.

- Claire M,
2021

Ideal location just outside Betws y Coed. Situated in the splendid grounds of a large house, now an art gallery and café. The accommodation is quite quirky, but lots of space and very warm and clean. We were given a bottle of wine, a bag of coffee and some scrumptious cake as a welcome gift. Would recommend.

- Stephen C,
2021

Lovely cottage and setting next to a very hospitable cafe and art gallery in the beautiful main house. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and managed to climb Mount Snowdon ( 20 minutes away) despite mixed weather. We were always pleased to return to the warm, cosy cottage which was a perfect base to explore the area, Thank you for looking after us so well.

- Rosie B,
2021

The welcome from Roland made us instantly feel at home. The accommodation was spotless and there were some lovely homely touches including their lovely choc almond brownies ,local coffee and a bottle of wine. It was spacious with fab views and lovely grounds to walk in. The weather was unkind but it did not matter because the accommodation was so lovely. The gallery was a nice bonus and we enjoyed the exhibition featuring Carl Melelgari amongst others

- Bernadette F,

Thank you for a wonderful break. We loved the quirkiness and style of Y Golchdy. Sitting in the walled garden and watching the sun slip behind the hills was a highlight, but the comfort of the little living room and fire was also a joy. Great access to wonderful walking and scenery. We were well looked after, and loved the gallery and the cake snd coffee too ! Thanks

- Eleri davies ,

Beautifully renovated and furnished with lovely things, this little bolt hole made for a relaxing getaway. The grounds of the big house are great to explore and we found the bench in the walled garden just perfect for our sun-downers. The hosts are really friendly and helpful. Thank you for a great stay!

We stayed here for seven nights. The cottage is a gem, really beautifully done and the location perfect for just hanging out or as a base for exploring Snowdonia. The cafe and art gallery in the grounds are both excellent and our host Ralph could not have been more helpful or welcoming. Will definitely return.

- John H,

A delightful and quirky cottage providing us with characterful spacious and tastefully presented accommodation. Lovely setting and gardens to explore, lunch in adjacent coffee shop and art gallery A must. Highly recommended and welcome pack a nice touch.

- Ian B,
2020

Our stay at Y Goldchdy was so lovely. The cottage was quirky and gorgeous from the moment you walked in the door. The modern kitchen going up into the cosy living and sleeping area was as Ralph described it like "a den". It was so nice to be able to get the woodburner going and settle in listening to the wind howling outside but being so warm inside. Everything is provided including some logs to get the fire going. The view from the sitting area was into a field with some little lambs running round. Its only about a 10 minute drive into Betws-y-Coed or Llanwrst to its ideally located for a visit to Snowdonia or some of the local Zipworld activities. Can't recommend this place enough for a stay, Thanks Ralph and Roland for welcoming us to this lovely cottage

- Claire K, Altrincham (United Kingdom),

Excellent New Years get away! Beautiful accommodation and grounds. We received a really top notch welcome; settled in quickly and got the wood burner going - we were provided with everything needed! The surrounding area was fab, despite being winter we still made the most of Conwy, Newborough beach on New Year’s Day and Betws-y-coed. Fully recommend this holiday home to anyone ...

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The location was perfect for visiting the snowdonia national park and the beautiful coastal towns. The cottage was of a high standard, we loved the spacious layout, bright kitchen and quirky design features. We enjoyed looking around the art gallery and felt really well rested after our break.

Lovely cottage - helpful hosts - Fab location And unlimited wood for the wood burner :)

- Stuart L,
2018

It was fabulous! The cottage was already cosy and warm, very clean and we were welcomed by Ralph and his dog. It was a lovely surprise to have great coffee, a bottle of wine and some lush brownies and flapjacks. The place was equipped with everything we needed. The location was very handy for exploring Snowdonia, and the estate itself has a very lovely, calm and special feel about it. Perfect place for our romantic getaway, first one as a couple too! The only thing we found a bit annoying was that we were woken up by both an occasional trickling sound and a loud hissing when (we assume) someone was using the taps next door. This seemed very loud next to the bed even through earplugs that we are both accustomed to using. It wasn't continuous though and definitely didn't ruin anything! One suggestion also: It was a it tricky to get the actual logs to fire up which meant having to use a lot of kindling. It might be nice to make sure people have plenty of kindling (even more than actual logs) to get a good fire going so the logs actually take.

- Laura S,
2017

Lovely cottage, very cosy and beautifully decorated. In great location on site of house with art gallery and within easy reach of hikes. Good place to relax. Would visit again.

- Catherine gokani ,

- Petra G,

If you're looking for a romantic break for two in a beautiful house and fantastic location you'd struggle to find better then this. The house is comfy and cosy and beautifully done out (and that's coming from a rather fussy magazine editor)! You're also a stones throw from Snowdon so it's ideally located for exploring this beautiful part of the world. However the best part is undoubtedly coming home to this little hideaway. We'll be back.

- Lucy W,
2017

The cottage was wonderful! It sat in the stunning grounds of the main house, and was beautifully renovated, with everything you could need included. It provided a great base for a fantastic holiday.

- Harriet N,

This cottage was superb! Exactly what we were looking for, decorated outstandingly, kitchen well equipped and such friendly owners. We had a lovely time staying at The Laundry. Everything was lovely from the warm welcome, lovely accommodation and beautiful setting. Thank you!!

We loved Y Golchdy from the first moments of our welcome from Ralph (the owner) The cottage was welcoming and comfortable. Everything we needed for an enjoyable few days was provided. We'd love to visit again- maybe in Autumn or Winter so we can light the log burning stove! Great place!

- Barbara R,
2016

This cottage is just fabulous. It is a great place to chill out and relax. It's s very quirky setup with the modern kitchen diner on the lower ground floor, the bathroom on the ground floor and bedroom / Livingroom on the upper floor. The bedroom is on a raised level above the Livingroom and it's very cosy and inimate. The wood burner with a wood burner make the room very warm and you might find you need to open the windows in the evening. No phone or wifi signal so just chill out and enjoy the peace On the site is an art gallery and coffee shop run by the owner Ralph. Well worth a trip. We ate at the lovely Craig-y-Dderwen Riverside Hotel which was fabulous. The staff ( Mostyn) made us feel very special and expect to pay around £60 for dinner for 2 but it is well worth it. It's a short walk ( 3 miles ) into Betws Y Coed Apparently there is a shortcut over a bridge into town that will probably cut off a mile from the journey but we only found out about it after we have walked the 3 miles. You can get the number 19 bus ( from the bus stop just past the train station ) back to your cottage if you don't fancy the walk back.

- Martin V,
2016

The weather was wet and windy, but Y Golchdy was warm and cosy! We've just returned from a long weekend in this lovely place. On arrival at around 2230 I was surprised to meet Rowland (the owner) who had just lit the fire which was very welcome! Activities involved walking in the Gwydyr forest and playing lots of card and board games - we will definitely return when the weather is better to do more hiking/biking.

- Hannah davies ,
2015

Cannot recommend Y Golchdy enough. The cottage was a fantastically creative environment for me; so peaceful - especially in the evenings. The large kitchen is excellent and the comfortable upstairs is kept very warm by the wood burner - even in November! One piece of advice to the owners - never install wi fi in the property; its brilliant to have a little peace and quiet once in a while!

- Martin L,
2015

We had a great time at Y Golchdy. The house has been renovated beautifully and is very comfortable and cosy with everything you could need. There's lots to explore in the area and the countryside is very dramatic. Snowdonia is a very beautiful part of Wales.

- Clare davis ,
2015

The cottage was absolutely fabulous, very spacious and much larger than the photos suggested. All the facilities were excellent. The location is ideal for touring Snowdonia as it is close to the intersection of the A470 and the A5 with easy access to the Llanberis Pass, the North Wales Coast and the A55 to Holyhead.

- Bernard woodford ,
2015

This place is a gem. The location is perfect, secluded but near to attractions and a local town (a car is a must). It is beautifully decorated and we were given a warm welcome. Eating outside in the evening sun was so peaceful and relaxing. Then a night in front of the wood burner on the comfy couch, followed by the amazingly comfy bed! Would definitely stay here again xx

- Sarah S,

Lovely Location, very relaxing. The cottage is beautifully done. Next door is a cafe and gallery that is nice to just relax in with a coffee. Definitely recommend
