about the property

Restored by our friends Roland and Ralph at Ffin y Parc just outside Betws-y-Coed – one of the finest quality holiday cottages in Snowdonia mountains and North Wales. We're delighted they asked us to be their agents!

"Snowdonia is win-win for winter: on fine days there are spectacular walks to be taken, in bad weather there are slate quarries to descend into. Staying at Llofft Dau comes with extra benefits. This former coach house three miles from Betws-y-Coed is in the grounds of a country house, and you are free to explore the walled-garden and estate. The two-bedroom cottage feels like a boutique hotel, with original art on the walls and quality furnishings." - The Guardian 2022 - Best Cottage for Winter

Situated in the heart of Snowdonia, this former coach house and dairy has been lovingly renovated with original artwork by well-known Welsh artists. It really is one of our finest interiors and feels like a boutique hotel with its SuperKing beds, top-quality linens, and wonderful furnishings and paintings. You'll love your stay at Ffin-y-Parc!

The apartment is located on a lovely Snowdonian country house estate within the 14 acres of its own grounds, parkland, and Victorian kitchen garden. The cottage is situated in the grounds of the main house and you have access to the huge walled garden, grounds, and peaceful views.

It is only 1.5 miles to lovely Llanrwst (antiques, castle, cafes) or just 3 miles from Betws-Y-Coed (the heart of the National Park), and close to some breathtaking mountain walks and miles of gorgeous beaches, this makes it the perfect retreat for a family or two couples. It's really about the mountains here in the Conwy Valley - but the beach isn't far if you long for the sands!

If you have friends wanting to stay nearby we've two other properties within the service wings of Ffin y Parc, all of the same high standard.

We could not have had a more enjoyable time at Ffin-y-Parc 2. The cottage was so spacious, warm, cosy and beautifully decorated. We had everything we needed. It's ideally situated to explore spectacular Eryri too. So very lucky to have had the opportunity to stay here before the owners move on in 2024. Thank you for everything! Lucy & Vic

Superb spacious accommodation, very tasteful decor. The host (Ralph) was very friendly. The welcome package included delicious cake and a nice bottle of wine. We have no hesitation in recommending this property. We also loved the cafe in the gallery next door.

- David H,

Idyllic cottage in stunning surroundings, on the edge of Snowdonia national park and 5 mins drive from zipworld and Betwys. The host was very friendly and we appreciated the welcome gifts. Beds and sofas very comfy and cottage is tastefully decorated. Kitchen well equipped and a few board games to keep kids amused. The art gallery on site is well worth visiting and i enjoyed coffee & cake afterwards. We really enjoyed our bank holiday weekend here.

Thank you for a lovely time at Llofft Dau. The cottage was just what we needed for our exploration of this gorgeous area of Wales and walk up Snowdon. It was very cosy and well equipped, the beds were super comfortable and we felt at home and welcome. Much needed break with family made even more special. Loved it!!

Perfect cottage for the family in a great location. Lovely grounds and on site cafe (although we didn’t have time to sample it). Welcome gift from Ralph settled us in nicely!

- Ian B,

Wow! Had a lovely few days in unique surroundings! Warm welcome from hosts Ralph and Craig? Welcome pack was appreciated! Art gallery next door had interesting exhibits and a cafe! Log fire was cosy in the evenings.. Lloft Dau had everything we needed.....and was spotless on arrival! However, a few extra cleaning cloths for kitchen pans/ bathroom would be useful to keep it that way! Hope to return next year! ....

- Carol G,

Wonderful cottage in the perfect location for access to local sites and for easy visiting to Snowdonia park. Beautifully appointed in a tasteful modern style that harmonizes with the historic structures (looks just like the photos). Easy entry and exit to open/close the cottage, and very cozy as a retreat for the weekend. Would highly recommend.

- William M,

We really enjoyed our stay in Llofft Dau. The cottage was extremely comfortable and in an excellent location. The added bonus was the fantastic art gallery and the spacious grounds. We hope to return.. The Stratton family.

- Cordelia stratton S,

Llofft Dau is a stunning cottage set on a beautiful estate. Perfectly comfortable and clean. A short drive from Betws y Coed, and ideally situated for Llanberis, Beddgelert, Conway Castle etc. The weather was glorious but would have been equally pleased with rain and gales, requiring 3 full days spent inside by the fire! You will love it.

- David L,

Fantastic cottage in every way! Very comfortable. Wonderful location, so much to do as a family. We’ll be back! Many thanks

- Jess mansfield ,

This was such a lovely cottage in a wonderful location and we really appreciated the welcoming touches left for us - a lovely bottle of wine, mouth watering brownies and proper coffee. Thank you so much. It was great to have a lovely cafe and art gallery right next door and the cottages are perfectly located for exploring the area - from Snowdon to the coast.

- Debra K,

Comfortable and tasteful cottage set in beautiful surroundings. The greenery, coffee, wine and cakes were very much appreciated and made us feel very welcome as did the friendly welcome from the hosts. The coffee shop and gallery, being so close, was an added bonus. Thank you

We have had a really lovely week at Llofft Dau - the interior design was stylish and the place was really comfortable with everything we needed. With the dark nights coming in, it was so nice to come back to a warm and homely cottage. The gallery, grounds and gardens were lovely. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

- Helen finnamore ,

A beautiful cottage with everything we needed for the week - including excellent coffee & cake at the cafe right next door! We really enjoyed our stay and the location was great with easy access to the National Park and up to the coast - would highly recommend this lovely cottage.

- Mary M,

The cottage is nicely furnished and generally well equipped. The beds are very comfortable. The setting, in the extensive grounds of a country house art gallery, is attractive and the location is perfect for exploring Snowdonia National Park. Overall, a very enjoyable holiday.

- Antony M,

Totally lovely place with the added bonus of being next to the best cafe and stylish gallery. Comfy, friendly, clean and warm ( it rained quiet a bit). Will definitely be back.

- Sue shields ,

The description says it all “5*” and like a boutique hotel. There are so many special touches in and around the tasteful accommodation that after four nights there’s still things to discover. As a bonus there’s wildlife literally on the doorstep with the nesting swift’s, and wonderful walks close at hand. Like a fellow reviewer I was surprised at the absence of the DVD player, and whilst this was of minor significance I was really disappointed at how small the TV is (especially given the football and tennis underway at the time). Great to have culture on the doorstep with the Oriel next door.

- Graham cooper ,

Beautiful apartment and lovely hosts. The gallery and cafe were a snashing added extra . We were so comfortable. There wasn't a DVD player but when I mentioned it our host realised that the TV had been updated and no longer had a built in one. He was very helpful. The surrounding area had loads to do. We coasteered on Angkesey, walked to Swallow Falls and went on the Fforest Coaster. Lovely extras of wine, cake and coffee. The access to the grounds was amazing. Would definitely visit again.

- Pip J,
2021

The accommodation was delightful, but we would have appreciated a toilet on the first floor. As amateur architects we were working on a plan to install one in the walk in wardrobe in the bedroom! It was very convenient to have the cafe at hand. The highlight of our holiday was a band rehearsing in the gazebo in the garden - one of those unplanned and unexpected pleasures that sometimes happen on holiday. We were unsure where we were supposed to hang our laundry to dry. A clothes airer would have been useful.

- Dianne M,

Lovely comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting.perfect location for visiting local sites. We will return!

- Carole J,

We have just come back from a wonderful stay at this cottage. It is well equipped, beautifully decorated and we even had a tasty gift from the owners! It is set in the most gorgeous of grounds with stunning views, we didn't want to leave!

- Rebekka D,

A very clean, comfortable and warm cottage. The owners were welcoming and very helpful. We will definitely return in the future.

- Judith white ,

A haven. A beautiful place to stay combining tranquillity and connectivity. The cottage is extremely comfortable and well equipped, peacefully located in extensive grounds. That said, the gallery and cafe provide a perfect counterpoint just next door. The food is very wholesome, the gallery ambience is perfect and the staff are extremely genial, led by Ralph, the owner. A wonderful base for the high mountains, the lush valleys and the coast.

- Neil B,
2020

A beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings. We were greeted by Ralph who showed us around the cottage. It has a modern, large kitchen, lounge with two large, settees and wood burning fire, large comfortable beds and a nice bathroom with hot shower. The cottage was cleaned to a very high standard, with particular attention to Covid requirements. Our stay was relaxing and comfortable. A nice touch was the coffee, cake and bottle of wine left as a welcome gift. The art gallery and cafe on the site is also a wonderful place to visit and have a light lunch or indulge in great cakes. Will definitely come back. Thank you Ralph and Roland for making our stay during this challenging Covid time so relaxing. September 2020

- Anne P,

We had a wonderful time travelling to North Wale and staying at Tŷ'r Gofalwr cottages. The owner, Ralph, greeted us on arrival and showed us around the cottage and his lovely 17 acre property. The cottage was super cute, quaint and very quiet. It was additionally lovely to receive a welcome gift of bottle of wine, cake and coffee - which we enjoyed immediately as we settled in. We made lots of day trips in and around Wales based out of Betws-y-Coed including a challenging day hiking up and down Snowden. We loved that the cottage had a large bath tub to soak our weary calves! The central location of the hotel made things easy for us to access. We would highly recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a high quality cottage getaway in Wales. Philip.

- Philip B,

Lovely cottage with comfortable beds. The interiord ere both comfirtable and interesting with carefully chosen pictures and objects. We all had a great time in lovely surroundings. The only niggle was that the birds mess from the swifts nesting above the doorway could have been cleared more regularly, as promised. Overall highly recommended.

- Lucy R,
2020

We had a great stay. The cottage had been refurbished to a very high standard. It had received a Covid deep clean prior to our arrival which was very reassuring. Ralph, one of the owners, showed us to the cottage and explaned the essentials. The main house, which is an art gallery and coffee shop, is very impressive, as are the extensive and well maintained grounds. Highy recommended.

- Peter F,

What a brilliant week and beautiful cottage! Roland and Ralph are lovely hosts and the onsite gallery, lunches and cakes are a must. Very close to beaches (Colwyn Bay and Llandudno) Great Orme, Zip World, we very much hope to return!

Excellent cottage in a great location. Good quality fixtures and fittings and classy deco. The grounds surrounding are excellent as well - acres of space and very tranquil despite being so close to Betws y Coed. Thoroughly recommended

- Mark T,

Thank you very much for a wonderful stay at this lovely place. Perfectly located for trips into Snowdonia National Park or to the North Wales coast. Very comfortable, lovely new central heating system keeps it warm and cosy. Beds and sofas have been improved since the pictures on the UTT site have been taken, providing additional comfort. Fully equipped kitchen and great bathroom with hot water available at all times. The welcome pack of wine, flapjacks and coffee was also a lovely surprise. The café and art gallery next door are gems and we had a very warm welcome from the owner. Can thoroughly recommend.

- Silke E,

We enjoyed our stay at Tyr gofalwr. It felt like a home from home with much better views. The welcome pack was a lovely touch, and location was great for getting about.

Superb. Ideal location for Snowdonian mountains or the coast. Friendly owners of beautifully decorated, spacious accommodation and grounds with everything a family needs for a comfortable relaxing stay. We will definitely be staying again.

Just returned from a blissful few days in this lovely cottage - the location is great with some stunning scenery and good walks close by (particularly along the river from Betws - y - Coed). The cottage is beautiful - cosy and comfortable (great bed!) with interesting art all over. We loved stopping by the nearby gallery, definitely worth a visit. We are already planning our return in a few months!

- Carley L,

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tŷ'r Gofalwr. The setting is beautiful and very quiet but still close enough to local attractions and facilities. The cottage is tastefully renovated and decorated and had everything we needed. We would love to stay again in the future.

- Nicola M,

Hi, we all had a great time here. Original art, high spec kitchen and bathroom, ample hot hot water, wood Burning stove, very comfortable beds and pillows. No more to say, but more to discover. and that is not including the coffee shop and galleries....... Ing stove

- Avril H,

A lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the UK. The area is ideal for hikes and we were lucky enough that the weather allowed us to enjoy the Glyders and Crib Goch trail. And even more rewarding after a long day in the mountains to return to the luxury of Ty'r Gofalwr with its cosy interior and fireplace.

- Erik baurdoux ,
2015

The cottage is very well appointed with beautiful furniture, paintings and artefacts. It felt very spacious for a cottage and had plenty of natural light. We enjoyed visiting the art gallery and coffee bar in the main house (excellent cakes!) and wandering about the grounds, especially the walled garden. There are plenty of walks in the immediate neighbourhood too. It was a very peaceful place, but not isolated - Betws y Coed and Llanrwst are just short drives away. This is definitely a place we will be returning to.

- Maggie B,
2015

Lovely cottage in a great setting. Everything you could need for your stay available in the accommodation, but do bring a torch as it's needed at night! Loved visiting the art exhibitions next door, although those scrumptious cakes in the coffee shop are far too tempting! Ralph, Roland and staff all friendly, welcoming and helpful. A great time was had!

- Amanda L,
2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay in this most beautiful place. Our hosts, Roland and Ralph, could not have been more accommodating and made us feel very much at home. Our two youngs boys asked if we could go back again next year!

- Bob M,

Loved staying at the cottage. Perfect location for mountaineering and exploring, and having Ffin y Parc right next door is great! Lovely afternoon tea, cakes and en evening of Gin and tonics was just perfect! Our hosts were also lovely. Would definitely stay again.
