about the property

A quirky, single-storey holiday cottage with open plan sitting room and log burner. This heart-warming lodge is a breath of fresh air with its views overlooking an idyllic lake.

Ideally suited for couples wanting to get away from it all, Caban Llyn has a stylish and comfortable modern interior and two acres of woodland and pathways just waiting to be explored. Step outside to be at one with the natural landscape, perhaps admiring the lake and its wildlife from the balcony, or enjoying a barbecue and return to the sofa and log burner for a cosy night in.

Situated up a long private track shared only by the owners on the other side of the lake (out of sight) you'll love this contemporary lovenest.

Half an hour's drive brings you to some of the best of Wales and Border country (Machynlleth, Bishops Castle, the Elan Valley lakes) - or stay home and chat to the friendly alpacas in the adjacent paddock!

customer reviews for Caban Llyn

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cabin Llyn, such a peaceful place to get away from it all. We were lucky to have good weather so could enjoy the doors open to the lake but I'm sure it would be just as lovely to be snug inside in the winter.

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. This well (uniquely) equipped, lakeside property was easy to live in and a pleasure to come back to after our walks in the local area. We didn’t meet the owners, although their chickens, led by Claude the cockerel, and three ducks, met us at the car and escorted us to the door. They were there to accompany us back to the car and see us off when we left, too. The greeting notes, instructions and guidance, in addition to the poultry, made sure that we felt warmly welcomed. The living room had an easy-to-use wood burning stove, which we used on each of our three evenings. Additional heating throughout the property kept us warm at all times (it was a bit chilly outside!). Great care had been taken to ensure we had everything we could need. Attention to detail kept us COVID safe too! The Dansette record player was fun - I don’t know when I last listened to Black Knight by Deep Purple, although I bought it when it came out! The ‘cinema-sized’ TV screen was also a pleasant surprise, we watched a DVD and I reacquainted myself with Lara Croft via the PlayStation (an unexpected UTT treat!). Once Lara got to Peru, it was time to venture out. We followed the suggested walk from The Mouse House - up to the transmitter, through the woods and back. A short but very memorable walk. We walked down through the woods which contain a pheasant farm - there were pheasants everywhere - underfoot, bursting from the undergrowth, up and down the track. We counted 13 buzzards and a couple of kites circling overhead before ghosting through the trees. They swooped among the pheasants in what they must have seen as an all-you-can-eat buffet! We also visited Devil’s Bridge and did the £4 gorge walk. Worth every penny, with up-close waterfall spray. The fish and chips from Caersws lived up to the description in the notes. Thank you Rachael and Mike for providing an excellent short break for us. The property is beautiful and we look forward to returning. Andrew and Madelin.

What a lovely place! The cottage is tucked away in a peaceful little nook, and is beautifully equipped. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thoroughly recommended.

We have just had a wonderful week at Caban Llyn. The cottage is so comfortable and well equipped we had everything we needed. It's very peaceful and a perfect place to relax and recharge the batteries. The countryside around is so beautiful and there are plenty of fabulous walks to enjoy. The owners are lovely and always around to offer advice if needed. We would not hesitate to go back.

What a beautiful, thoughtfully furnished space! The chalet was spotless and very well COVID-protected (hand sanitiser at touch points like the key safe and the gate on the drive!). Very well equipped, we comfortably cooked all our meals and there's provision to eat inside or out in the beautiful garden/ wood/ balcony by the lake. There's a huge TV and great WIFI and phone signal. We loved all the animals, particularly the very friendly chickens and we got to feed Owen and Alun, the alpacas! We will most certainly be back!
