Restored by friends Marit and Mike, this has been one of our most popular Snowdonia cottages over many years. It has a super location right up on the mountainside above Dolgellau in the Snowdonia National Park, the perfect cottage for hillwalkers and those who love seclusion.
The name 'Ty'n y Simdde' tells a story; it is likely altered over the centuries from 'Tyddyn Y Simddeiau' - 'Smallholding [with] the Chimneys') from back in the days when having two chimneys was something the neighbours would have noticed and talked about, given that most would have still lived in chimneyless homes in the late C17/ early C18 when it was constructed. The fact that somebody was building a 'modern house' so far up the mountain is also fascinating in itself and tells us that the area wasn't as remote as it feels today some 300 years ago.Today this classic 'Snowdonia house' is tucked away at the end of its own track and overlooking the beautiful Hermon Valley, at the heart of the world-renowned walking and cycling area of Coed y Brenin Forest Park. You really feel like you're UP the mountain here and have views to Cader Idris.
This ancient house has been in the hands of the same local family for 75 years - inside it is simple, basic even, but in the most remarkable mountain location - this is real Eryri / Snowdonia. It has two good sized bedrooms (one with King, one with Double and Single).
