about the property

Bwthyn Trehilyn on the Trehilyn estate restored by Griff Rhys Jones and family in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

Everyone agrees - Bwthyn Trehilyn is simply one of the finest holiday cottages in all of Wales. It is one of the group of cottages around Trehilyn farm that form UTT's largest rental in Wales - sleeping up to 22 (or 25 in summer when the Showman's Wagon is in use). Scroll down this page to see the other Trehilyn properties.

You'd have to look very very hard to find a better cottage for your holiday in Pembrokeshire. Meticulously renovated by BBC's Griff Rhys Jones from a ruin using authentic restoration materials and skills, this is a traditional, detached Pembrokeshire cottage in a peaceful location at the end of a track, with seventy acres of farmland that enjoy fine sea views. Walk to the famous lighthouse on Ynys Meicl or hike out to Porthsychan cove. Read how Griff restored this cottage. The restoration of this cottage was the subject of the BBC4 series “Return to a Pembrokeshire Farm”.

customer reviews for Bwthyn Trehilyn

Bwthyn Trehilyn is a beautiful home. Interesting, warm, cosy and beautifully furnished. We spent 4 nights here and could have stayed longer. The home is spacious and easily accommodates 2 families. The bedrooms are independent of one another which is great for privacy. Ideal location for a summer or winter break. The gardens are fabulous if you’re luck with the weather. We would highly recommend this beautiful property.

What a truly wonderful place. Bwthyn Trehilyn is immaculately turned out and very well-equipped. So much effort has clearly been put into converting it into a perfect space for a holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The setting is beautiful, with stunning views from all the garden spaces, and only a short walk to the top of Garn Fawr and Pwll Deri. We will be back!

Our second visit to Bwthyn Trehilyn, we liked it very much and especially the log burner for winter evenings

He had a lovely stay for a windy week in November. The cottage is beautifully presented and the location is superb. We had a quick drive to the lighthouse and the blue lagoon and it was close to amenities in Fishguard (the Royal Oak was incredible!). It was nice to just spend time in the cottage and walking the fields with the dog. It was just the holiday we all needed and we will be back again in the new year. (Special mention you Shirley who was every to helpful when we arrived late at night and couldn’t find the key safe!)

We have enjoyed the most amazing week at Bwthyn Trehilyn. Thank you for sharing your beautifully renovated farmhouse with us. The house is sited in the most stunning location, there are many walks from the door but it is also perfect for exploring the Pembrokeshire coastline. We surfed at Whitesands, coasteered near St Davids, took a boat trip to Ramsey Island to see the grey seal pups and choughs and walked along the fabulous NT beach, Marloes Sands. There is much to do for all ages. We shall look forward to our return visit in May. Thank you.

We love staying at Bwthyn Trehilyn, having been a few times before.. Really attractive property both inside and out. coupled with a beautiful, peaceful location. Whatever the weather we have always had a great time.

We had a wonderful week at Bwthyn Trehilyn. Beautiful weather meant that the amazing coastal walks were enjoyed by all, even our four children, who were spurred on by the thought of delicious fish and chips at The Shed at the end of it. The house was great and equipped with everything that we needed. I was particularly grateful to find the coffee machine! And Shirley was wonderful. Thank you.

Lovely warm and cosy cottage which was a delight to stay in. Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and would love to return soon. Griff RJ has done a superb job restoring and converting these special buildings whilst preserving their historical and architectural integrity. Thank you for allowing us to stay and enjoy them.
